For some, it’s a natural maturity. For others, it’s botched plastic surgery gone wrong. Then, for others, it’s the sad truth that health, including physical illness and even mental and emotional illness, will show on the outer when it really starts to affect the inner. As a result, many can come off looking years older than they actually are, which is just a cause for all kinds of confusion if you ask us. Nonetheless, it’s an unfortunate fact for some.
Here’s a list of 19 famous singers who look older than they really are.
1. Cher
Cher may already be in her late 70s, but if we’re being honest, we would have pegged her to be in her early 80s. While she has said that her mother underwent a facelift when she was 56 and “looked more stunning than ever,” we can’t say the same for the “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” singer.
Instead of making her look younger, her facelift, in our opinion, left her looking much older than she should. It just goes to show that risking one’s natural beauty with surgery isn’t the right decision for everyone.

2. John Stamos
When John Stamos appeared as everyone’s favorite uncle, Jesse Katsopolis, on the hit ABC sitcom Full House, it was clear that he was the youngest of the show’s leading male actors. However, when the cast reunited for the Netflix spin-off Fuller House, Stamos, while still ruggedly handsome, did not seem to show such an age difference.
In fact, arguably, he suddenly looked older than Dave Coulier and the late Bob Saget. Because of that, it’s honestly a little hard to believe that he was only just turning 60 in 2023.

3. Carly Rae Jepsen
When Carly Rae Jepsen came out with “Call Me Maybe,” it started an earworm that hit radios all over the world. With its youthful feel, it seemed as though the one singing it should’ve been quite young, perhaps in her late teens or early 20s.
Instead, Jepsen was a 26-year-old who looked as though she should at least be in her early 30s thanks to her mature-looking dark locks and wise eyes.
4. Toby Keith
For many years, if you’d told us Toby Keith’s age, we would have easily believed you as he seemed to age with grace. Sadly, these days, however, thanks to a heartbreaking diagnosis and battle with stomach cancer, we can’t quite say that’s true about the “How Do You Like Me Now” singer.
While he only turned 62 this past year, his thinned-out frame would more likely have us thinking that he was pushing 70. It’s just another thing that makes cancer such a pain to deal with, as it continually takes everything from you.

5. Harry Styles
When it comes to men, all it takes is a little facial hair to make you look much older than you actually are. Such is the case for former One Direction member turned pop solo artist Harry Styles. As the “Sign of the Times” singer has continued to don a little scruff in recent years, it baffles us to think that he’s not already in his early to late 30s when, in reality, he will only turn 30 on February 1, 2024.

6. Steven Tyler
If you don’t want to find yourself looking older than you actually are, we would recommend you not take after Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler. While he only turned 75 in 2023, his many years of drug use have left a slightly haggard appearance on him, making it seem as though he should be closer to 80 or older by now instead.

7. Britney Spears
Britney Spears used to be the Queen of Pop, but as her life and fame started to spin out of control, it seemed as though her youthful looks had gone with her. The occasional lip injections she gets at times haven’t helped matters either. Instead of rocking her early 40s, it seems as though the former “Oops! … I Did It Again” singer is approaching her 50s.

8. Carrie Underwood
Let’s start off this entry on our list of famous singers who look older than they really are, boasting about how much we love her first. Carrie Underwood is, no question, the reigning queen of country music, and she is still as stunning and graceful as she ever was.
However, following a freak accident in November 2017 that left her needing more than 40 stitches in her face, there is just something about it that has left her looking slightly older than she actually is. It’s to the point where, back in 2017, it seemed as though she was going to be turning 40, but she is only now preparing to turn 41 on March 10, 2024.

9. Randy Travis
As proven by a few other entries on our famous singers who look older than they really are, accidents and health problems have a way of taking a toll on one’s looks quickly and, at times, instantaneously.
With country star Randy Travis, alcohol use, followed by a massive stroke in 2013, proved to be his downfall. Because of it all, we’re more likely to believe that the “Forever and Ever, Amen” singer is in his late 70s or early 80s instead of only 65, come May 4, 2024.

10. Cardi B
Cardi B may only be turning 32 in 2024, but if we didn’t know any better, we’d think she was turning 42. She has admitted to undergoing various plastic surgeries in the past, and while her breast augmentation and illegal butt injections turned out well, we wouldn’t be surprised if we found out that those procedures also included lip and cheek fillers.
Sadly, if that is the case, we’re sorry to say that we think it aged her instead of making her look more youthful.

11. Jessica Simpson
When Jessica Simpson was at the height of her career, she had a flawless beauty about her with the perfect body and perfect blonde locks to prove it. While she kept those looks up for many years, we can’t help but admit that back-to-back pregnancies, as well as years of alcohol abuse (which she details in her memoir Open Book), caused her to age prematurely.
While she has since quit drinking, having been sober for quite a few years now, one thing that has not helped things is her overly skinny frame. While her body looks great, her sunken face makes her look like she’s at least 50 instead of 43 as of July 2023.

12. Sara Evans
Sometimes, aging isn’t always super graceful. While Sara Evans is still a stunningly beautiful woman, there has always been something more mature in her appearance that has left her always looking slightly older than she actually is.
When she went through her several personal setbacks, first a divorce from her first husband and now a separation from her second, it seemed to only make things worse, proving that stress can certainly take its toll. Although she’ll turn 53 on February 5, 2024, we would have pegged the “Born to Fly” singer as being closer to 58 or 59.
13. Zac Efron
While Zac Efron has mostly indulged as an actor since starring as Troy Bolton in the High School Musical trilogy, let’s not forget that it was that movie that established him as having a killer singing voice as well. As he’s grown into taking on much more mature roles in recent years, it’s hard for us to comprehend that he’s still a young actor in his prime.
While we would have pegged him as being maybe 41 or 42 by now, in reality, he just turned 36 years old on October 18, 2023.

14. Paul McCartney
As time has gone on, Paul McCartney’s maturity in voice has certainly transferred over into his looks, and his many years of drug use haven’t helped with that either. With his graying hair and beard, along with his under-eye bags, we would’ve more likely guessed that the former Beatles frontman was already in his mid- to late-80s instead of only 81 as of June 2023.
We do admit, though, that the grey might be dye, as Macca has been dying his hair forever. If so, he should punch it up in re-application.

15. Ozzy Osbourne
Once again, we have a prime example of why we should encourage our kids to stay away from drugs and alcohol. As Black Sabbath lead vocalist Ozzy Osbourne continues to get up there in years, it seems as though as each year goes on, he’s adding on another five years. While he only recently turned 75, we would have added at least a few years to that number, at a minimum, if we were to guess.

16. Eric Clapton
We’ve already established with our previous famous singers who look older than they really are entry, Harry Styles, that a little facial hair can do wonders for making a man look older than he actually is. Because of that, guitarist and singer Eric Clapton has always seemed to have an older look than other famous singers.
In years past, that was better received than it is now. Combine his facial hair with slightly more wrinkled skin and completely gray hair, and you’d think he was pushing 82 or 83 instead of his late 70s.

17. Elton John
Elton John is no doubt the king of 70s music, and he continues to ever so gracefully continue that even as he ages. Unfortunately, we’re not sure we can say the same about his outer appearance. We would have pegged him to be more like 83 or 84 instead of nearly 77.
We do love and respect the way that he struts around, clearly comfortable in his own skin no matter what, though.

18. Mick Jagger
Like Jessica Simpson, Mick Jagger is an example of how skinny perhaps helps in looking youthful when you’re in your 20s, but not so much as you start to get up there in years. Jagger may be able to rock just as well today as in the early days of the Rolling Stones, but his older appearance makes it seem as though he’s approaching his 90s instead of only recently turning 80.

19. Lindsay Lohan
Let’s face it. As we wrap up our list of famous singers who look older than they really are, we’ve already proven that sometimes getting Botox or plastic surgery doesn’t shape up to work the way it was intended. That couldn’t be truer than for the former child star turned disgraced actress and singer Lindsay Lohan. While she is still in her later 30s, her most recent movie, Falling for Christmas, has her looking as though she’s pushing her mid-40s.
