Born as Steven Victor Tallarico in Manhattan, New York on March 26, 1948, Steven Tyler had an early start in his love for music.

His parents, Susan Ray, who was a secretary, and his father, Victor Tallarico, who was a music teacher and classical musician himself, raised Tyler as one of two children.

Although he was born in Manhattan, the family later moved to the Bronx, where Tyler attended Roosevelt High School.

He later attended and graduated from Quintano’s School for Young Professionals.

Steven Tyler’s Career

Steven Tyler, having been around music his entire life, had been a part of several small bands when he was in high school.

It wasn’t until he met future bandmates Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton that he decided to form a band.

In early 1970, the three set out to and formed Aerosmith and brought in a few other members to complete the set. In 1972, the band was signed with Columbia Records and was able to release its debut album in 1973.

The band, however, began to disintegrate in the late 1970s when Tyler and another band member developed a serious drug addiction that was affecting their performance. This coupled with Tyler’s motorcycle accident in 1980, seemed to destroy the band.

However, after checking themselves into rehab, they reformed Aerosmith in 1984 with their “Back in the Saddle” Tour.

This kicked off years of success for the band, with many singles hitting the tops of the Billboard charts and earning them many gold and platinum records.
