We’re kicking off our list of most hated celebrities with a doozy for you. There’s no need to introduce Taylor Swift as she’s arguably the most well-known and famous person on this list, and in this world, that’s enough to earn you just as much backlash as adoration. While in the past, there has been everything but hate over her numerous relationships, her supposed inability to sing, and her songwriting, she’s garnered a whole new group to hate her.
With the development of her high-profile relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, NFL fans are coming down on the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer because she is getting “too much coverage” during the game.

2. Chris Brown
For Chris Brown, we don’t think there is any secret as to why he appears on our list of most-hated celebrities. If you are unsure, buckle up because there are so many reasons to choose from. We’ll start with his domestic violence dispute against his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, which left her with several facial injuries and a stay in the hospital.
He later told Larry King Live in 2009, “I’m in shock because, first of all, that’s not who I am as a person, and that’s not who I want to be.” He sure hasn’t proven that with his actions. He has since been involved in scuffles with Drake and Frank Ocean, as well as hit and runs, misdemeanors, drug charges, and more.

3. Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan is one of those celebrities who only makes the statistics against child stars that much worse. While the young actress and singer seemingly had it all as she starred in such classics as Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, and Mean Girls, she threw it all away for drugs, alcohol, and a whole host of other shenanigans. What doesn’t help our view of her is how she ruined her natural beauty with Botox, making it not only sad when she’s trying to make a comeback but hard to watch.

4. Jesse James
Jesse James may be the first person on our list to be hated because of his cheating scandal against America’s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock, but he won’t be the last. Stay tuned to find out who his female counterpart is going to be. Meanwhile, his excuse for it all is, “In general, both women and men cheat. It’s part of life.” If that’s not enough, the fact that he’s been seen wearing Nazi hats and even holding the “Heil Hitler” pose, we’re just done.
5. Shia LaBeouf
Shia LeBeouf has earned his spot as one of the most hated celebrities in Hollywood thanks to his strange and yet inappropriate public behavior that has led to a long list of legal troubles. From plagiarism accusations to abuse allegations and a slew of other problems, it seemed he was in the media more for his troubles than his acting work. He does seem to be turning himself around, though, with a prime role in the recent film Padre Pio, so we’ll see if he earns back the admiration, too.
6. Jay Leno
When it’s clear that you’ve intentionally stabbed someone in the back, don’t expect many people to be on your side. This is the case for comedian and television personality Jay Leno when he seemingly stole Conan O’Brien’s timeslot for a late show on NBC in 2009-2010.
O’Brien later commented on the fiasco, saying, “He [Leno] went and took that show back, and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know – I know me, I wouldn’t have done that. If I had surrendered The Tonight Show and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well, and then … six months later. But that’s me, you know.”

7. Ashton Kutcher
We’ll admit, Ashton Kutcher has grown up a ton, especially since becoming a husband to Mila Kunis and father of two, but back in his early days, his silliness and antics left something to be desired. From his annoying show Punk’d to his plain silly and immature roles, he was hard to swallow for many years, especially as someone many youths looked up to. Then, you mix that with reports of arrogance and his supposed cheating on Demi Moore, and there is just a whole lot going against him.

8. Gwyneth Paltrow
Just because you’re a celebrity, it doesn’t permit you to treat others as if they’re below you. That’s something that actress Gwyneth Paltrow has been accused of on more than one occasion, which is why she lands on our list of most hated celebrities. From reports that she refused to “speak with the help” at a restaurant, ordering food through her assistant to strict demands to gym workers, and even downplaying what it means to have an office job, there are just a number of reasons why her status on this list is warranted.
To expand on that last one, she said, “When you’re shooting a movie, they’re like, ‘We need you to go to Wisconsin for two weeks,’ and then you work 14 hours a day, and that part of it is very difficult. I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as, of course, there are challenges, but it’s not like being on set.” Then, she has the audacity to underpay her staff, giving them 40 percent less than the market rate.
9. Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez is keeping up the diva-like attitude on our list of most hated celebrities, deeming her by many as “one of the nastiest people in Hollywood.” There have been numerous reports of her incredibly rude behavior towards others with an attitude of being extremely entitled. Because of that, it has been further emphasized that her “niceness” is simply a routine. “She’s a diva. Her niceness is so fake. It’s disgusting,” wrote one commenter on Quora.

10. Kristen Stewart
As promised, here is our female Jesse James, because we have to ask: who cheats on a stud like Robert Pattinson? Kristen Stewart, apparently, and it’s because of that one incident that the Twilight actress went from being one of the most admired people in Hollywood to one of the most hated celebrities in one fell swoop. When are celebrities going to learn that, as a celebrity, they can never be certain that a camera is not on them somewhere, so if you don’t want to get caught doing something, then perhaps you just shouldn’t do it.
11. John Mayer
If you’ve read “Open Book” by Jessica Simpson, there is no need to explain why John Mayer is our next entry on the list of most hated celebrities. If you haven’t, the most important thing to note is that he is a serial heartbreaker. What’s even worse is that the “Sweetest Sin” hitmaker indicated that Mayer would often get back together only to break hearts a few days later to feed his songwriting and material. Now that’s just sick.

12. Katherine Heigl
Insult the writing of one of the most popular medical dramas of all time and remove yourself from Emmy running as a result, and you’ll quickly garner a lot of enemies. Katherine Heigl was much beloved as Izzie Stevens on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, but rumors quickly swirled about her supposed unimpressed view of her character’s storyline. Since she was written off the show soon after, her follow-up work has rumored instances of less than stellar attitude as other actors found it difficult for her to work with.

If there is one on our list of the most hated celebrities that should be number one on the list of people you don’t want your daughter to look up to, look no further than Madonna. While she may be a hitmaker and supposed “Queen of Pop,” she has also been highly criticized for her oversexualized persona having a negative impact on mainstream culture. As Shmuley Boteach once wrote, Madonna will only “destroy the female recording industry by erasing the line that separates music from pornography.” That’s certainly not the kind of thing we would want girls looking up to but to each his own.

14. Justin Bieber
This is a sad entry on our list of most hated celebrities, as Justin Bieber was just the sweet, innocent “Baby Bieber” when he first came onto the music scene. Unfortunately, in recent years, there have been many reasons why he has gone from being beloved to being hated among fans. Whether it’s his diva-like attitude or his DUIs, it’d probably be quicker to list why he’s still liked because that’s getting harder and harder to find.

15. Anne Hathaway
Let us state for the record right now that we do not agree with this entry whatsoever, but the reports say otherwise. Supposedly, people have claimed that she’s trying too hard and just seems “fake,” while we only see a genuine person. Then there are reports of her being difficult and even being blamed for the painful hosting of the Oscars alongside James Franco, yet she was the main source of the backlash. All we can say is none of the things against her seem fair, and we’re just as glad as she is that things had died down by the time she finished her year out of the spotlight.

16. LeAnn Rimes
We’re proving time and time again with this list of the most hated celebrities that the world isn’t as up and OK with infidelity as so many might think, especially LeAnn Rimes. While she swears that her affair with Eddie Cibrian was all good because two people fell in love, the backlash she received proves otherwise, and rightfully so. Reports of her feuds with other celebrities and her failed, sad attempt at a reality show only add to that hatred.

We can’t help but think about the Big Bang Theory when Sheldon tells Penny that geology is the Kardashian of science (a.k.a. they’re not real celebrities). From her scandalous 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries or weird marriage to Kanye West, her sex tape, and her having no discernible talent, it’s annoying when people flaunt anything they possibly can to get into the spotlight. Her “fake” reality scenes prove that with laughably unbelievable tears, her spoiled tendencies, and even fat-shaming her own brother. Can she please just go away already?

18. Kris Jenner
Speaking of Kim Kardashian (and honestly the entire Kardashian clan), momager Kris Jenner is certainly the one to blame for the whole lot of them. While we will admit that it’s clear that she loves her kids, it’s also clear that she flaunts them at any open opportunity. What it really comes down to is she is one of those annoying stage moms who has taken it to the extreme, and it makes our skin crawl. It’s no wonder that there is such a spoiled tendency among the whole lot of them.

19. Matt Lauer
If there is anyone more justified to be on our list of most hated celebrities than Matt Lauer, we’d sure like to hear about it. In the light of the #MeToo movement, one of the most scandalous revelations was that of the Today Show’s Matt Lauer. From allegations of rape and other sexual assault claims, it’s clear that this is one man who was justifiably fired from his position, which was publicly broadcast on the morning show that very same day.
We have to say that the reactions of his coworkers actually made the entire thing worse, as they seemingly tried to stick up for him and his actions. “This is a sad morning here at Today and at NBC News,” said his former co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie. “We are heartbroken. I am heartbroken for Matt. He is my dear, dear friend and my partner, and he is beloved by many, many people here.” Although she also said she was heartbroken for the victim, it left a bad taste that there was a stick up for him at all.
20. Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie may not have been in the relationship herself, but her actions that led to Friends star Jennifer Aniston losing her man have certainly tarnished her reputation as it’s the love triangle that’s still talked about today. That’s even though Jolie and Brad Pitt have since parted ways, too. It just goes to show that when the world comes to love and admire a couple, you don’t want to be the one that comes in between them because you’ll never hear the end of it for as long as you live.

21. Ariana Grande
Oh, Grande, where do we start? Ariana Grande may be talented, but her likeability factor certainly ends there. From mistreating fans, even reportedly saying she hoped they all died after a meet-and-greet, to claiming that she hates America, she certainly has shown no reason to be looked up to or admired. All we can say is we hope she takes a good look at herself in the mirror (no, not to admire herself) and gets her priorities straight.

22. Ellen DeGeneres
There was a time when we would have never expected the beloved talk show host to appear on our list of the most hated celebrities, especially considering her “Be Kind” motto. However, since the end of her highly popular talk show, there have been more and more claims that Ellen DeGeneres is not as nice as she seems. This is backed up by reports that she created a highly toxic work environment among her employees, often making rude and hurtful comments toward them. Some who have attended tapings of her show have also reported less-than-stellar behavior from the comedian.

23. Danny Masterson
We’re going to wrap up our list of the most hated celebrities with one that, like Matt Lauer, appears to be completely justified. Danny Masterson won our hearts as Steven Hyde on the hit show That 70’s Show, but now his reputation has been shattered thanks to his sexual assault allegations. While they first came to light in 2017, it all came to a head this year when he was found guilty of all charges and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. There’s no way that he’s going to ever be able to salvage his reputation.
