For seven years until it ultimately ended in 2016, he was in an on-again, off-again relationship with Nomi Leasure, a writer, whom he met while the pair were in middle school. Mac Miller is one of two sons born to architect Mark McCormick and photographer Karen Meyers. The latter has obtained many clients in her photography business, according to her website, such as Heinz, Live Nation, PNC, and Fairmont. She once told Complex magazine that the family’s artistic tendencies fed her son’s musical interests. “I’m a photographer, and my husband’s an architect, so there’s a lot of genetic disposition towards creativity. We support the arts, and both of [our sons] are artists.”
Miller was raised in a split-religious household, being raised in the Jewish faith and even having a Bar Mitzvah ceremony in line with his mother’s beliefs. He also attended a Catholic school, fitting in with his father’s Christian beliefs.
While the latter was part of his upbringing, the Jewish faith had the most considerable influence on him, including in his rap career. In fact, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency has noted that Miller was known as a Jewish rapper, and Complex further reported that Drake has called Miller “the best Jew in the rap game.” To that, Miller responded, “I mean, I don’t take offense to it. I’m the coolest Jewish rapper. Not he! I am!”
Miller has also stated: “I celebrate the high holidays. That’s like my culture; that’s like my family; that’s like how I was raised: Jew.”

Mac Miller’s Tattoos
Mac Miller was clearly a fan of permanent ink statements, donning a total of 42 tattoos spread across his body.
“I love the [tattoos] by the wrist,” Miller once said about his tattoos. “I have a full leg dedicated to just stupid tattoos. My cousin was getting his first tattoos, and I was like, ‘Look, dude, it’s not a big deal. I’ll get a blue brontosaurus.’”
After pointing out a few more random designs, such as a kangaroo with boxing gloves or his dog, he further said, “Sometimes, with tattooing, people get too lost in meaning. I’m more of a remember-the-moment [type of] person.”
Some of his other interesting permanent inking choices included an American Spirit Cigarette Logo on his chest, the words “MOST DOPE” across his knuckles, and a Buddha tattoo on his left arm.
What Led to Mac Miller’s Death?
Mac Miller had a long history of depression and substance abuse before he died in 2018, which was caused by an accidental drug overdose. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office later revealed that his overdose was because of a “mixed drug toxicity” that included fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol.
One year after Miller’s death, three men were arrested following further investigation into Miller’s death. Investigators discovered that Cameron James Pettit allegedly sold a counterfeit oxycodone pill containing fentanyl to the late rapper just two days before his death. The tampered drugs were run to Pettit by Ryan Reavis and supplied by Stephen Walter.
Investigators also believe that Miller originally asked for a prescribed painkiller, Percocet, which contains oxycodone, as well as for cocaine and Xanax, allowing Pettit to lace the pills before making the delivery.
As a result, all three men were indicted for conspiracy and drug distribution, resulting in an individual’s death, but only Reavis and Walter were convicted. Reavis was sentenced to 10 years in prison on April 18, 2022, and Walter was sentenced to 17-and-a-half years on May 17, 2022. Pettit was acquitted.
In life, Miller was open about his struggles, even expressing on several occasions that he wanted to break the habit. “Doing a lot of drugs, it just eats at your mind, doing drugs every single day, every second,” he said. “It’s rough on your body.”

What Did Ariana Do When Mac Miller Died?
Although Ariana Grande and Mac Miller were not officially together when the latter unexpectedly passed away, Grande has never failed to remember her ex. Not only did she publicly mourn him after his passing with pictures and a post to social media, but just this year, she paid tribute to him on the 10th anniversary of the first song they ever sang together.
Sharing the music video for “The Way” to her social media, she captioned the post, “I love you” continuing the sentiment she shared right after his death.
“I adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will. i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you’re okay now. rest (sic).”
What was Mac Miller Buried With?
It is unclear whether Mac Miller was buried with anything specific, but he was laid to rest at The Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, following a Jewish funeral service.
While there was initially a headstone to mark his grave, it has since been removed because of the excess of décor and visitors that came to the grave.

Career
Coming off the success of Blue Slide Park, which brought several Billboard Hot 100 Mac Miller songs like “Frick Park Market” and “Party on Fifth Ave,” Miller continued his momentum, releasing his mixtape Macadelic on March 23, 2012.
After releasing a few EPs and attempting to premiere two songs for a planned collaboration with Pharrell Williams, who produced the songs, Miller took his career to a new level when he founded the record label imprint REMember Music, named in honor of a late friend.
That same year, Miller starred in Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family, a six-part reality series on MTV2, and followed it up with his second studio album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off. The album brought about Mac Miller’s songs, “S.D.S.,” “Watching Movies,” and “Goosebumpz,” and included multiple guest performances. Miller later said of the album, “It is very introspective and very personal, so it’s kind of throwing it all out there and seeing what happens.”
After his contract with Rostrum Records expired in January 2014, Miller took his career to a new level, signing with Warner Bros. Records, which included a recording contract and distribution deal for REMember Music, saying it was “the most independent thinking” recording company that he talked with at the time. Under his new major label, Miller released four studio albums. The last album released before his death, Swimming (2018), was further posthumously nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. That will still not be the end of new things from Miller as we know it, however. While some of his mixtapes have been re-released, Madlib, a hip-hop producer, received clearance to release an album he and Miller had spent many years collaborating on. The announcement was made on March 28, 2023, during an interview with Sway Universe, but no release date has been set; thus, fans must still anxiously await the day they can enjoy this new jewel from the late rapper.
