When is Future’s Birthday?

Future was born Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn on November 20, 1983, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

He started using his stage name when he began performing as a member of the musical collective, The Dungeon Family Collective after his fellow performers gave him the nickname “The Future.”

He attended Columbia High School in Decatur.

Is Future a Mumble Rapper?

Yes. One of the signature things that Future is known for is providing mumble-styled vocals and prolific output.

Is Future the first mumble rapper? Maybe, though some may disagree and say it was Gucci Mane or Chief Keef.

His 2012 single “Tony Montana” featuring Drake is regarded as the first mumble rap song.

Future is also considered to be a pioneer of the use of melody and auto-tune in modern trap music. This is why he is regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation.

In 2016, the LA Times wrote that his “highly processed vocals suggest a man driven to bleary desperation by drugs or love or technology,” and his music “comes closest to conjuring the numbing overstimulation over time.”

Music critic Simon Reynolds said in 2018 that Future “reinvented blues for the 21st century.”

Future has credited his “sound” to his first cousin and record producer Rico Wade who urged him to work on his writing skills and pursue a rap career.

He has applauded the influence and instruction Wade gave him, calling his first cousin the “mastermind” behind his famous sound.

Future’s First No. 1 Albums

Future did not waste time in 2017, releasing his self-titled studio album on February 17, 2017, and then releasing his sixth studio album, Hndrxx, just one week later.

That’s what his fans wanted because they both went No. 1 consecutively.

With this achievement, Future became the first artist to have two albums debut at the number-one spot simultaneously on the Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Chart.

Building on that momentum, he and Young Thug released their collaborative mixtape Super Slimey in October of that year

Further, he joined Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift for the song “End Game” for her Reputation album. The song peaked on the Billboard Hot 10 at number 18, earning him his eighth top 20 hit song.

This led to further collaborations in early 2018, including with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and James Blake for “King’s Dead” featured on the soundtrack for Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.

This collaboration earned Future his first Grammy Award nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. It won Best Rap Performance Award at the 61st annual Grammy Awards.

His success as an artist has only soared from there, releasing three more studio albums, the most recent being his ninth studio album, I Never Liked You, in 2022.

He won his second Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance in 2023 for his song “Beautiful” featuring DJ Khaled and SZA.

Future, the Songwriter

Future has more than just vocal talent. He also has the skills of a writer, too.

Some of his most successful songwriting credits include “I Wanna Be With You” by DJ Khaled, “Love Me” by Lil Wayne, and “Digital Dash” by Drake.

Future, the Record Producer

Future founded the record label Freebandz in 2011, with releases distributed through Epic Records, whom he signed with that same year.

Along with Freebandz being the co-label on Future’s own studio albums, it has also been associated with other notable artists, including Young Scooter, Doe Boy, and Real Boston Richey, among others.

Future, the Rapper and Singer

First and foremost, Future has made his name as a rapper and singer.

Following a series of mixtapes released between 2010 and 2011, he officially entered the rap scene in September 2011 after signing a recording contract with Epic Records.

Days later, he released his mixtape Streetz Calling, which immediately got him noticed by magazines and reviewers.

Pitchfork said that with the mixtape Future “comes as close as anyone to perfecting this thread of ringtone pop, where singing and rapping are practically the same thing, and conversing 100 percent through Auto-Tune doesn’t mean you still can’t talk about how you used to sell drugs. It would almost feel antiquated if Future weren’t amassing hits, or if he weren’t bringing some subtle new dimensions to the micro-genre.”

He followed it up with another mixtape, Astronaut Status, before releasing his debut studio album.

Future Studio Albums

Future pulled out all the stops for his first record, Pluto, released in April 2011.

The album included remixes of his hits “Tony Montana,” which featured fellow rapper Drake, and “Magic,” featuring T.I.

The latter would be Future’s first single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at 69. Even further, it peaked at No. 10 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

The album also featured works with the likes of Trae tha Truth, R. Kelly, and Snoop Dogg.

And that was just the beginning.

In November 2012, he released a repackaging of the album called Pluto 3D, which included three new songs and two remix songs, such as “Same Damn Time” with Diddy and Ludacris.

Future released his second studio album, Honest, in April 2014, with more amazing collaborations for fans to enjoy with artists such as Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, and Lil Wayne.

He also had a hit song featuring Kanye West called “I Won,” which was about the artists’ then fiancées Ciara and Kim Kardashian.

Undoubtedly, these collaborations led to it peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

He would later go on to release two more studio albums, DS2 and Evol, which went on to achieve moderate success on the charts.

Then, suddenly, things would change with one Instagram post on Valentine’s Day 2017.

Who is Future’s Current Girlfriend?

Future’s last known girlfriend was fellow rapper Dess Dior. In 2021, rumors of their engagement were fueled when he gifted her with a diamond ring that February.

Before hooking up with Dior, Future has been romantically connected to American singer and dancer Ciara, the mother of one of his at least seven children.

The two got engaged in October 2013, but Ciara called the engagement off in August 2014 after his infidelity was revealed.

He has also been known to date model Lori Harvey.

His relationships haven’t been smooth over the years.

His seven children with seven different women have resulted in many paternity suits for failing to pay child support. All the cases, however, have been dropped.

Even if they hadn’t, considering Future’s net worth, he wouldn’t have had much of a problem if he paid up, considering his massive wealth.
