Early Life

Music has been a major part of DC the Don’s life since he was 8 years old and writing his own songs. Additionally, in his youth, he said he had many memories of dancing to a lot of the music of the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson.

But music wasn’t the only interest that played a role in the early life of DC the Don. As a teenager, he loved playing basketball and, while in high school at Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California, was teammates with future NBA star LaMelo Ball, as well as his brothers LiAngelo and Lonzo Ball. While he graduated as a 3-star recruit by ESPN, he ultimately chose his career path in music, but it didn’t mean that the two passions didn’t eventually intertwine.

Career

After ultimately deciding to give up on his basketball career, DC the Dom really delved into his music career in October 2017 when he released “Everything 1K,” which he wrote in only 10 minutes, according to an interview he did with The Source. It quickly blew up after his former basketball buddy, Lonzo Ball, endorsed it.

“It’s crazy. One day after practice, Lonzo cosigned me on Instagram,” he said in the interview. “Ever since then, the song blew up.”

DC the Don worked off that moment, releasing one of the first notable DC the Don song, “3 AM Freestyle,” on WorldStarHipHop’s YouTube channel in February 2019.

By 2020, he had another single on the books, “Worst Day,” which became a hit after the accompanying album, Come As You Are, was released on August 7, 2020.  

Less than two years later, the “Milwaukee” rapper’s sophomore album, My Own Worst Enemy, was ready for release on February 18, 2022, which garnered the hit single “PSA.” Around this time, he also collaborated with fellow rapper yvngxchris on the latter’s album Virality and the track “QuikkSkope.”

Funeral marked DC the Don’s third studio album, released on May 5, 2023. His latest album, Rebirth, was released in October 2024.

Alongside his albums, DC the Don has released four mixtapes, including F*ck Hell and DC Dahmer in 2018 and Sacred Heart and Sacred Heart 2 in 2022 and 2024, respectively.

He has also released six extended plays between 2017 and 2023. They include Halloween on 47th Street, Thank You Jahseh, Just a Kid From Milwaukee, DC Run Music, DC Fridays, and Crystal Castles // Smashing Pumpkins // Found You.
