8. Little Richard

Little Richard was one of the most influential artists in the world of rock and roll, earning acclaim as the “Architect of Rock and Roll” by the end of his multi-decade career, which produced such hits as “Tutti Frutti” and “Long Tall Sally.” His songs were covered by many famous acts, including the Beatles, who he toured with early in their career.
While we’ll always love him and his music, there’s no denying that he is one of the strangest famous people on our list, thanks to some pretty outrageous stories. Some of the most wild include his many orgy escapades, his obsession with personal gratification, and his love of voyeurism, which even led to him spending three days in jail.

9. Kanye West

Before Kanye West became an established rapper and songwriter, he was known as a prominent record producer in the early 2000s, thanks to his work with Roc-A-Fella Records. If his fame wasn’t large enough after releasing such records as Fantasy (2010) and Yeezus (2013), his high-profile marriage to Kim Kardashian really boosted things.
Like all the crazy celebrities on our list, there are more stories than we have time for about West that demonstrate just how weird he is. One of his most recent crazy escapades was when he legally changed his name to “Ye,” but perhaps even crazier was his reason.
“I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means ‘you.’ So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us.”

10. Britney Spears

As one of the reigning Princesses of Pop, Britney Spears dominated the 1990s with such hits as “Oops!… I Did It Again,” “You Drive Me Crazy,” and “Baby One More Time.”
Unfortunately, like many celebrities, Spears took a downward turn by the mid-2000s to where she was already established as one of the weirdest and craziest celebrities in the business.
That hasn’t stopped either, thanks to her odd TikTok videos making their rounds around the internet. From walking around in different swimsuits, poorly edited food videos, and rubbing up against the shower door, we’re honestly kind of addicted to their oddity.

11. Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen is an actor best known for his work in films such as 1986’s Platoon and 1993’s The Three Musketeers and his starring role in Two and a Half Men on CBS.
Like many crazy celebrities, much of their craziness comes from personal struggles with drugs and legal issues. Such was the case with Charlie Sheen. His craziest moment, however, was the 2011 “Tiger Blood” interview when he claimed that he had superior DNA that consisted of the blood of a tiger and proceeded to go on a rant that is still talked about today.
12. Joe Exotic

Speaking of Tigers, our list of crazy celebrities wouldn’t be complete without Joe Exotic, aka “The Tiger King,” being included.
Exotic has no shortage of craziness to talk about. From his signature bleached blonde mullet to his 2016 run as an independent in the 2016 presidential election, it doesn’t take much to see the crazy come out.
The craziest story came in 2019 when he was convicted on 17 federal charges of animal abuse and two counts of attempted murder for hire. He is currently serving 22 years in prison.
13. Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson is one of the most recognizable names in professional boxing, with a 20-year career under his belt that earned him such nicknames as “Iron Mike,” “Kid Dynamite,” and “the Baddest Man on the Planet.”
Where do we begin with the Tyson stories of craziness? Tigers remain a hot topic and apparently have a connection with wild personalities, considering he once owned one. He has also raised pigeons.
Plus, who can forget when he bit off the ear of Evander Holyfield in the ring, which led to his suspension from boxing and the revoking of his fighting license for a year?
Tyson is also no stranger to psychedelics, either. He took four grams of mushrooms on the IMPAULSIVE show.
14. Ozzy Osbourne

A well-known singer, songwriter, and television personality, Ozzy Osbourne is best known for being the lead vocalist of heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath.
He may be talented, but he’s earned his name as the “Prince of Darkness” with some of his weird and crazy antics. Once again, there seems to be a connection in behaviors among all these weirdest celebrities.
While Tyson was biting off part of a man’s ear, Osbourne bit off the head of a bat on stage. The funny part of the story is he did it thinking it was a fake rubber bat that someone was throwing on the stage and not actually a real bat that was just unconscious.

15. Tom Cruise

Actor Tom Cruise is one the biggest heartthrobs in Hollywood, with women worldwide fawning over the star. He’s best known for his roles in films like Risky Business (1983) and Top Gun (1986). Underneath those smoldering good looks, deep down, he is easily one of the weirdest celebrities out there.
Since 1986, when he converted to Scientology, Cruise has become one of the most outspoken advocates of the Church of Scientology. Over the years, he has credited the practice for helping him overcome his dyslexia, worked to establish it as a religion in Europe, and lobbied for Tony Blair, a British prime minister, to make Scientology a tax-exempt nonprofit organization in the United Kingdom.
He also got his hooks in the George W. Bush administration when he convinced Richard Armitage, former deputy secretary of state, and Scooter Libby, former vice-presidential chief of staff, to oppose Germany’s non-recognition of Scientology in 2003.

16. Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson, who took on the stage name by combining the names of actress Marilyn Monroe and cult leader Charles Manson, is best known as being lead singer of the rock band of the same name.
Manson was known for his wild, often controversial antics on stage. In his autobiography, Manson himself recalled many of them, such as the time that he had an actress, who was meant to look pregnant, come on stage to iron out wrinkles of a Nazi flag. “As the show progressed, she sat spread-eagled on the ironing board and pretended to perform an abortion on herself,” he wrote.
Another shocking moment came in 1994, when he was arrested for violating the adult entertainment code by urinating on the crowd, amongst other innapropriate actions.

17. GG Allin

GG Allin may have been a punk rock musician who worked with many groups over the years, but it was his craziness that made his name more prominent.
Allin is easily among the craziest celebrities on our list, thanks to his outlandish behaviors on stage. Labeled “the most spectacular degenerate in rock n roll history” by AllMusic and the “toughest rock star in the world” by G4TV’s That’s Tough, his stage performances were known to implement transgressive art, including pooping on stage, self-mutilation, and assaulting audience members.
You’d think he would have learned to tone down the crazy over the years, considering he was arrested and imprisoned numerous times for his antics.

18. Gwar

Gwar reached the height of its career in the 1980s and 1990s and still maintains a dedicated cult following of fans, and it’s pretty easy to guess why.
They are definitely one of the weirdest heavy metal bands, if just for their unusual outfits alone. With their extremely recognizable yet outrageous costumes, each band member appears on stage as an interplanetary warrior to serve their visual concept of over-the-top science fiction mythology.
We give them props for how the whole thing influences their albums, live performances, and other media. Still, their excessive sexual, violent, and often toilet humor makes it completely unsurprising that they’ve garnered just as much controversy as they have acclaimed.

19. Die Antwoord

Anri “Yolandi Visser” du Toit and Watkin Tudor “Ninja” Jones, aka Die Antwoord, have achieved mainstream success across the world with such hits as “Fatty Boom Boom,” “Enter the Ninja” and “Pitbull Terrier,” but that has been widely overshadowed in recent years.
These South African musicians often create very disturbing music videos, notably “I Fink U Freeky,” which features Yolandi lying in what appears to be either a bathtub of blood or black ink. Other scenes include her lying on the floor with rats crawling around her.
That’s not all. Their adopted son accused the two of physical and sexual abuse, as well as slavery, in 2022. The duo continually denies any allegations made against them.
20. Gary Busey

Gary Busey has held many prominent roles throughout his acting career, with his best-known role coming in 1978 when he portrayed “Peggy Sue” singer Buddy Holly in the film The Buddy Holly Story. The role earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor and the title of Best Actor by the National Society of Film Critics Awards.
He may have earned accolades for portraying a legend, but off the screen, he is easily one of the oddest celebrities with some crazy stories to his name. Some might attribute his off the wall personality and sense of humor to the fact that he had suffered traumatic brain injury from a motorcycle accident back in 1988.
21. Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is one of the most successful comedic actors in the business, gaining recognition for several standout roles in such films as the Ace Ventura series, Liar Liar, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and The Mask.
According to the actor, his gift for energetic slapstick humor is not just God-given but Andy Kaufman-given, noting in an interview that the late entertainer and performing artist took control of his mind and body.
It’s one of the several reasons many believe he has lost it, with some thinking he has gone off the deep end. Still, others think he has become enlightened from the use of psychedelics.
In a blunt interview with E! Insider, he is quoted saying some crazy things like, “We are a field of energy dancing,” “There is no me,” “There are clusters of Tetrahedrons moving around together,” and “We don’t matter.”
22. Michael Jackson

There is no denying that Michael Jackson was and remains the King of Pop thanks to both his time with the Jackson 5 and his work as a solo artist, but in his personal life, he is still one of the craziest celebrities that ever lived.
We adore people who love children, but the “Thriller” singer took things to a disturbing level, leading to many controversies about his behavior around children.
When the 2003 Living with Michael Jackson documentary aired, Jackson said, “I have slept in a bed with many children. It’s not sexual. We’re going to sleep. I tuck them in. … It’s very charming. It’s very sweet.”
Ironically, this next crazy story seems to implement the exact opposite feeling towards children, considering he once dangled his son, Prince Michael II, over a fifth-floor balcony when the latter was only nine months old.
Then there are just the little quirks, such as his wanting to be Spider-Man, purchasing a chimpanzee named Bubbles from a Texas primate research facility, and purposefully leaking untrue stories to the press, such as the time he said he was defying aging by spending time in an oxygenated hyperbaric chamber. No wonder he earned the reputation of being a “Wacko Jacko.”

23. Steve-O

Steve-O is best known for his time on the reality comedy series Jack[expletive] and its subsequent films, and it’s his crazy antics on the show that have earned him his place on our list of the weirdest and craziest celebrities.
He has been known to pull some wild stunts throughout his tenure with the franchise, including walking a tightrope on top of an alligator pit, being used as shark bait, and getting an off-road tattoo.
24. John McAfee

John McAfee was a brilliant computer programmer, creating the most widely used anti-virus protection programs worldwide, but then things quickly took a downward spiral.
After moving to Belize, he was raided by national police in 2012 because of drug manufacturing and trafficking submissions. Not long after, he got wrapped up in a murder investigation and eventually went into hiding, according to the 2016 documentary, Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee.
The 2022 biographical documentary Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee further explores the story. The film is noted as being “the definitive story of a larger-than-life character, a man who ran for President, escaped from prison multiple times, and claimed to have hacked the world.”
If that’s not enough to make you one of the strangest famous people, we don’t know what is.
25. Randy Savage

Randy Savage was one of the most successful professional wrestlers in the ring and known as “Macho Man” Randy Savage (thanks to his mother) during his time with the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling.
This, however, is also why he was considered one of the craziest celebrities around and the star of some of the most memorable and weirdest moments in the WWE.
Some of the biggest include his 1993 final match against Yokozuna that ended in the latter propelling Savage in the air over the top rope of the ring, being knocked out by Buster Douglas post-match, and tying fellow wrestler Crush’s legs together so that he would be unable to stand up during the “ten count” when determining the winner of a match.
He also reportedly choreographed his entire WrestleMania III match against Ricky Steamboat.
Savage wasn’t just crazy in the ring but out of the ring as well. One of his most memorable crazy endeavors was his 2003 Be a Man rap album. He also was quite the jealous husband when it came to his wife, Miss Elizabeth, especially when wrestler George “The Animal” Steele was part of the picture.
26. Richard Simmons

Richard Simmons is one of the most recognizable names in the world of fitness, thanks to his efforts towards promoting health and exercise, which even included the activism of a bill in 2008 that would mandate non-competitive physical education in schools – the No Child Left Behind Act.
What perhaps is even more known, however, is his often over-the-top, eccentric, energetic, and flamboyant personality to match his sparkly tank tops and signature afro. If you don’t believe us, watch his guest appearance on the hit improv comedy series Whose Line is It Anyway?
His antics at times clearly made show stars, notably Wayne Brady, uncomfortable at times, and he will always be one of the weirdest and craziest celebrities in the business.
He embraces it, though, once saying in a 2012 interview with Men’s Health: “When the king gets depressed, he doesn’t call for his wife or the cook. He turns to the little man with the pointed hat and says to the court jester, ‘Make me laugh.’ And I am that court jester.”
27. James Brown

Known as the “Godfather of Soul” and the progenitor of funk music, James Brown was a significant icon of music in the 20th century, bringing about such hits as “Please, Please, Please” and “Try Me.”
Unfortunately, in 1988, that began to be overshadowed when he was accused of allegedly assaulting his wife with a lead pipe and later firing a gun at a car that she was in. This led to what many have called the strangest interview on live TV when CNN interviewed James Brown about the subsequent charges.
Some of the most bizarre moments of the interview, including randomly singing, claiming he was “out [of jail] on love,” and claiming he would say, “I feel good. Papa’s gotta brand-new bag. It’s man’s world” when asked what he would say to fans who asked about the charges. It’s been speculated that James Brown was high on drugs during the interview.
