Is XG a Jpop or K-pop Group?
Lots of people are curious: is XG K-pop? Or since they hail from Japan, they are just a J-pop?
XG prefers not to be called a K-pop act but a “global girl group.”
Despite what their CEO said, there are some commentaries maintaining that XG is K-pop for some of the following reasons:
- The group themselves are based in Korea
- XG promote in Korea and on Korean music shows while they never promote in Japan or perform on Japanese music shows
- K-pop fans are the only ones who know them, while J-pop fans don’t.
It is obvious, too, that XG follows a K-pop-like method because K-pop is undoubtedly very popular and successful nowadays.
Does XG Members Speak English?
The XG members are actually Japanese but sing in English, typically speaking only in Korean and Japanese when away from the stage.
Maya is fluent in English. Most of them can speak in English as most groups nowadays must learn English if they want to break into the international scene.
