In January, American rapper Post Malone hit the stages of Australia for his highly anticipated 2023 Australian and Brazilian Tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
However, as soon as he hit the stage in Sydney on Tuesday, Feb. 7, rumors and speculations began to circulate, and fans are worried.
It was clear that the “Circles” singer had recently dropped a lot of weight as audiences noticed his skinny appearance under a baggie t-shirt and t-shorts.
Additionally, his strange movements on stage raised concern.
Why has Post Malone lost so much weight? Is it drugs? Has been sick or overly stressed?
Find out below.
Has Post Malone been going to the gym?
Before the seemingly dramatic weight loss, Post Malone’s heavier frame was due in part to a recent movie role.
Since finishing production of the movie, however, the 27-year-old says he’s been following a strict diet and working out regularly in the gym. Based on his toned frame, it’s safe to say that’s included some weightlifting.
Being on the road since September doing shows has also contributed to the weight loss, as he performs 90-minute sets every night.

Did Post Malone undergo weight loss surgery?
While nothing is definitive, no evidence exists that Post Malone underwent any surgery to attribute to his weight loss.
Has Post Malone gotten sober?
Another possible contributor to Post Malone’s weight loss could be the amount of alcohol he consumes.
He has admitted that low self-esteem has led to his over-indulgence in alcohol and drugs in the past, particularly when his fame began to rise.
Recently, however, he said he has significantly cut back on both, leaving him much healthier.
Has his fiancé influenced him?
In interviews, Post Malone has admitted that his fiancé has played a huge role in helping him quit his consumption of copious amounts of alcohol.
Although the identity of the rapper’s future wife remains a mystery, she’s definitely part of the reason Post Malone has become an even “Better Man.”

What is Ozempic?
Ozempic is the brand-name of semaglutide, which is often used in the management of type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide was developed by Novo Nordisk, a Danish pharmaceutical company, in 2012.
Semaglutide imitates the GLP-1 hormone that naturally normalizes blood glucose levels.
It was first approved by the FDA in December of 2017, with the highest 2-milligram dosage being approved in March of 2022.
The FDA approval is only in the case of treating Type 2 diabetes, NOT weight loss. The drug is ineffective against those with Type 1 diabetes or in treating diabetic ketoacidosis.
How does Ozempic help with weight loss?
While meant for treating Type 2 diabetes, Ozempic can also help trigger weight loss.
The reason? Its effect on the brain and the digestive system.
Ozempic boosts metabolism, reduces food cravings, regulates how the body stores fat and uses sugar, and makes users feel fuller for longer after meals.
What are the benefits of Ozempic?
Ozempic, combined with diet and exercise, can be used for many purposes, including the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
For those who have type 2 diabetes and suffer from heart disease, using Ozempic can decrease a patient’s risk of heart attacks or strokes.
It can also help reduce blood sugar levels and with weight loss.

What are the side effects of Ozempic?
Like many medicines, Ozempic has a risk of side effects, including hypoglycemia or low blood glucose levels, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation.
The drug can also increase the risk of pancreatitis, reports say.
Patients who are over the age of 60, who take other medicines or have other health conditions should consult their physician before taking Ozempic.
Pregnant women are also advised to consult a doctor before starting the medication.
What medications shouldn’t be taken with Ozempic?
Studies have shown that some medicines will decrease the effect of Ozempic. Some medications include certain HIV medications, insulin, corticosteroids, and some beta-blockers.
How is Ozempic taken?
Ozempic is an injection that is available in three different strengths – 0.5 milligrams, 1 milligram, or 2 milligrams. Doses are given once a week, on the same day each week.
It can be self-administered.

Is Ozempic popular among other celebrities?
Post Malone is not the first celebrity to be speculated to have been involved with the drug.
Several celebrities have been rumored to have taken Ozempic. Some have admitted to taking the drug, but most deny use of it.
Comedian Chelsea Handler said she was prescribed the medication but didn’t know what it was actually meant to be used for. Once she learned that it was for type 2 diabetes, she said she stopped taking it.
TikTok influencer Remi Bader has also admitted to trying the drug to treat her prediabetes and insulin resistance. She stopped taking it in 2020.
While some celebrities say they haven’t tried Ozempic, they have admitted to trying similar drugs. CEO of Tesla and Twitter Elon Music said his recent weight loss is thanks to fasting and Wegovy.
Comedian Rosie O’Donnell admitted on TikTok to have taken Mounjaro and Repatha, the former of which is in the same class as semaglutide, because of its treatment of Type 2 diabetes.
In contrast, several celebrities have completely denied using Ozempic, or any similar drug, when rumors circulate. Those celebrities include media personality Khloé Kardashian and Kyle Richards of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Multiple celebrities have spoken out against those who misuse the drugs such as Ozempic, which are meant to treat diabetes but are instead used for quick weight loss. These celebrities include television presenter Andy Cohen and British actress Jameela Jamil.
In an Instagram post, Jackie Goldschnieder of The Real Housewives of New Jersey called it “an eating disorder in a needle,” to which Tamra Judge of The Real Housewives of Orange Country responded, “I can’t believe anyone would put this in their body for anything other than diabetes.”

Fit and healthy or the “dad bod”?
Whether it is Post Malone’s diet, his weightlifting at the gym, or his lower alcohol consumption, fans have been divided since videos have circulated on TikTok showing off his new physique.
Many have applauded his new fit and healthy look.
“He looks so good. He’s been taking care of himself,” said one user on a video which features Malone exiting a venue and waving to fans.
“He looks so happy and healthy,” said another.
“Post Malone looking good as ever!” commented yet another.
As per usual with internet chat, not all agreed, though.
“He looks healthy, but I miss his dad bod,” wrote one commenter.

Why Has Post Malone Lost So Much Weight?
Commentary notwithstanding, Post Malone has certainly lost a sizable amount of weight lately.
