The iconic rockstar known to most as Stevie Nicks was born Stephanie Lynn Nicks to her parents, Jess and Barbara Nicks.

Stevie Nicks’ Controversial Marriage

Despite being linked to many partners throughout her career, Stevie Nicks has only been married one time, which she says was a huge mistake. She married her best friend’s husband after she died of leukemia two days after the birth of her son. 

Both Stevie and Kim Anderson were in so much grief after Robin’s death, that they decided to get married.

Nicks states that her only thought was that this was the best way for her to help the grieving husband raise his newborn. They divorced in less than a year.

With the outfits and shawls, all in black, that she wore during concerts and other performances, many people assumed she was into witchcraft.

She Does Not Play the Tambourine

While performing with Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks reportedly felt that standing around when she wasn’t singing was a bit of wasted time. Because of this, she started shaking a tambourine more for something to do rather than adding to the music.

In fact, it was rumored that she was not playing the tambourine, rather it was taped down with gaffer tape so it would not make a sound during their performance.

Stevie Nicks Had Some Close Calls From Her Drug Habit

At one time she and her bandmates went on a bender of using drugs and alcohol for more than 48 hours straight. Because she forgot she was wearing contacts, the constant use of them caused damage to her cornea that almost blinded her.

Additionally, she was using cocaine to the point that she developed a hole in her nasal passage and would die if she continued to use it.

It was this warning that finally convinced her to check in to the Betty Ford Rehabilitation Center.

Fleetwood Mac Did Not Want Stevie Nicks

Most people who love Fleetwood Mac would never have guessed that she was almost not a part of the band. It’s true, in the beginning, the other members of the band wanted her boyfriend, Lindsey Buckingham, but not her.

Eventually, Buckingham gave them an ultimatum that if they did not let her in, he would also not join them. The rest is history.

Stevie Spent More than $1 million on Her Cocaine Habit

Like many other bands who were formed in the 1970s, Fleetwood Mac and specifically Stevie Nicks used drugs extensively. It has been reported that the superstar star spent more than $1 million on cocaine before getting sober in rehab.
