Pharrell Williams is a pop culture icon who has made his name as an American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, and fashion designer with his streetwear clothing lines Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream.

He’s shared many things with the world about himself, but we managed to dig up a few fun Pharrell facts to help his fans get to know him even better.

1. Pharrell’s Creative Nicknames

Like many rappers and pop singers, Pharrell doesn’t just go by his real name.

He has been known to be called by several nicknames such as Pha-real, Lil’ Skateboard P, and P. Willy.

2. Pharrell Williams’ Height

Pharrell is 5 feet, 9 inches tall.

4. Pharrell Williams’ Wife

Pharrell married Helen Lasichanh, a fashion designer and model, in 2013, but initially, it wasn’t smooth sailing.

Before they officially started dating, Pharrell said his future wife initially rejected him. 

He stepped back and said they only started dating after reconnecting years later.

5. Pharrell the Percussionist and Talent Show Winner

Interestingly, as a child Pharrell was part of the school band as a percussionist

It’s there that he met saxophonist Chad Hugo. The pair were like two peas in a pod and went on to form their duo The Neptunes.

Their performance quality and attention to music and beat production eventually got them noticed by a music producer who saw them perform at the high school talent show.

6. Pharrell Has Synaesthesia 

In an interview with Psychology Today in 2012, Pharrell revealed that he had synaesthesia, the ability to visualize music in color.

The interview quotes Pharrell as saying: “Colors are light in the electromagnetic spectrum. For every color, there is a sound, a vibration, a part of the human body, a number, a musical note.”

Pharrell’s favorite color is yellow.

This doesn’t have to do with the minions in the animated film Despicable Me, does it? 

It certainly makes us wonder since the song “Happy” is one of his biggest hits as an artist and has hit number-one on multiple charts that makes everyone “clap along” with every listen.

9. What is Pharrell’s Favorite Book?

If you’re looking for Pharrell facts dealing with the intellectual side of things, he revealed that The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is his favorite book.

Pharrell told Oprah Winfrey that he read the book after it was recommended by his manager.

During the interview, he said it changed his life.

“You have to be unafraid to dream, and then you have to be even more brave and gallant about blueprinting what you’ve envisaged. You’ve got to be brave about that. It was clear to me.”

10. Pharrell Williams’ Favorite Movie

“Live Long and Prosper” fans: Pharrell Williams is one of the Trekkies. The rapper is a major fan of the long-running Star Trek film series.  

You know he was trying to keep his cool when he got to interview the legendary Leonard Nimoy in 2013.

11. Biggest Musical Influences

Pharrell has noted that his biggest musical inspirations have come from legends such as David Bowie, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder.

We have to wonder about his continued influence from Marvin Gaye.

Back in 2015, Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke were found guilty of plagiarizing a song by Marvin Gaye, and were ordered to pay $7.3 million to the Gaye estate.
