Are you looking for some of the best Christian songs? We’ve got them all in this list. Whether you are looking for something catchy, or something to help remind you that God is with you, these songs will help get you there.
There is a common misconception that all Christian music sounds like church music—but this isn’t the case! Christian music comes in every genre, from pop, country, to rap and even more obscure genres like heavy metal. Below are the best Christian songs that you should take a minute to listen to!
16. “El Shaddai”—Amy Grant
Although “El Shaddai” is an old hymn that has been recorded by a great many artists, the version by Amy Grant is the one we keep coming back to. Her voice is just so beautiful and captivating, especially in the parts of the song which are in Hebrew.
15. “Awesome God”—Rich Mullins
It’s no surprise that there are several versions of this song because it is that fun to sing along with! We don’t like all the versions though, and we definitely avoid the Michael W. Smith one. In fact, if you haven’t heard this song, the Rich Mullins one is the way to go.
14. “Monster”—Skillet
Remember those unconventional genres we were talking about? Skillet is a Christian band famous for their anti-abortion stance, but they’ve got some great hard rock bangers. “Monster” is a favorite, but so is “Feel Invincible” for those days you need to feel like nothing can knock you down.
13. “Falls Apart”—Thousand Foot Krutch
Another band that you wouldn’t know is religious unless you looked it up is Thousand Foot Krutch. While they haven’t released anything since 2017, we really enjoy this 2012 banger which is about how everything falls apart when you lose sight of God.
12. “Can’t Go On”—Group 1 Crew
Group 1 Crew is a hip-hop/dance group famous for obvious Christian songs. While they also have been silent since the mid-2010s, “Can’t Go On” is a song you won’t be able to resist putting on repeat.
11. “I Can Only Imagine”—MercyMe
If you are wondering what life will be like in heaven after you die, then this song by MercyMe is for you. Don’t forget to check out MercyMe’s other albums, and there are quite a few since they’ve been around since 1994.
10. “Remember Me”—Mark Schultz
Raised in small town Colby, Kansas, Mark Schultz has a unique voice and tune that is welcome in the Christian music industry. While not all of his songs are obviously religious, “Remember Me” is about remembering God and his followers.
9. “The Plagues”—Ralph Fiennes and Amick Byram
Anyone who was raised religious will immediately recognize this tune from the famed movie “Prince of Egypt” about the Biblical story of Moses, and in recent years, this song has become the subject of many TikToks because it is so catchy and, dare we say it—a banger.
8. “When You Speak”—Jeremy Camp
Jeremy Camp is famous in the Christian music world, as listeners everywhere love his contemporary spin on more traditional Christian themes. You won’t regret listening to this song he released in 2021.
7. “Good, Good Father”—Chris Tomlin
We can mention Jeremy Camp in a list of the best Christian songs without mentioning Chris Tomlin, as he is almost as famous. His songs are a bit more worshipy and a little less modern, but they still deserve a listen.
6. “Big House”—Audio Adrenaline
Perhaps one of the most famous Christian songs of all time, of course, we couldn’t have a list of the best Christian songs without mentioning Audio Adrenaline and their 1995 hit “Big House,” which can be heard sung in churches all over the US.
5. “Hallelujah”—Jeff Buckley
We should take back what we said about “Big House” above because actually, “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley is probably the most famous song. After all, there are over 300 versions to date. We still like the original best, however. Unfortunately, Jeff Buckley passed away in 1997 before his song hit the height of its fame.
4. “It’s Going Down”—KJ-52 and Canton Jones
It can be difficult to get teens into Christian music, but with KJ-52, who became a rapper and born-again Christian at 15, you’ll find catchy tunes that you really enjoy listening to. While this is his most famous song, “Fanmail” is more of a traditional rap that is also powerful.
3. “Hero-Red Pill Mix”—Superchick
Superchick isn’t near as obviously Christian as the other singers on the list, but this song, with its Christian positivity about saving a life, is something every Christian needs to hear. While Superchick has faded out of popularity, it’s doubtful this song ever will, especially with its discussion about suicide, school shootings, and other tough subjects.
2. “Who Am I”—Casting Crowns
One of the few Christian bands with both a Grammy and a Dove Award, our list of the best Christian songs wouldn’t be complete without Casting Crowns. Started by a youth pastor in 1999, Casting Crowns still releases new songs today.
1. “Fingerprints of God”—Steven Curtis Chapman
Stephen Curtis Chapman is one of the most famous and longest-lasting Christian musicians of all time. Even though “I Will Be Here” and “Cinderella” are his most well-known songs, we really love “Fingerprints of God,” which he released in 1999.
