3. “Marry Me” by Thomas Rhett

Much like “Teardrops on My Guitar,” Thomas Rhett’s “Marry Me” feels similar to those interested in our songs about a crush list. The difference is that if you watch the music videos, you get a sense of a happy ending with this one as opposed to Swift’s song. Again, though, almost everyone knows the aching feeling that comes when you love someone who doesn’t seem to feel the same way back. Plus, who doesn’t relate to the line, “I remember the night when I almost kissed her. I kinda freaked out. We’ve been friends for forever.”

4. “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen

Who doesn’t want to have that feeling of love at first sight? This time of year, that desire is only heightened. Live vicariously and turn on this fun, upbeat number by pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen. With the “meet cute” narrative at a wishing well culminating in the girl taking a chance and giving the guy her number, it’s female empowerment for girls everywhere that sometimes you just have to go for it.

5. “You Belong with Me” by Taylor Swift

As we said, Taylor Swift is the queen of these types of songs, so we had to include one of her songs about a crush with a positive, happy ending. While “You Belong with Me” has a similar premise to “Teardrops on My Guitar,” fans everywhere can rejoice, especially when seeing the video, that she did get her perfect guy in the end. It’s the perfect one on our list of songs about a crush that gives a little hope that perhaps it is possible.

7. “Let Me Love You” by Mario

We’ve covered songs about a crush that touches on being in love with a person who chooses someone else. Some came out with happy endings; some didn’t. Well, “Let Me Love You” by Mario puts a whole new spin on it as the narrator assures the woman he loves that he’ll treat her right as opposed to the one she’s with now. It’s the perfect representation of how true love is, first and foremost, about respect for the other.

Well, there is no doubt sometimes that with love comes jealousy, and to prove that, we’re throwing it back to the 1980s for this next entry on our songs about a crush list. “Jessie’s Girl” by Rick Springfield was a classic back then and is still a cult favorite of many today. We would, however, refrain from playing it in front of your best friend if it’s his girl you’re longing for.

10. “Stuck Like Glue” by Sugarland

There’s nothing like a good metaphor to describe how you feel about someone. Sugarland’s hit song, “Stuck Like Glue,” is a fun one to give as an example. This is a great one for all those couples celebrating years of bliss together and still going strong. It’s a cute one to bring a smile to your face.

11. “Tattoo” by Jordin Sparks

“Tattoo” by Jordin Sparks is yet another show of the permanence the feeling of love can have. The sad part is that this metaphor is a painful one as the singer talks of trying to break free of a former love but can’t because they’re “on my heart just like a tattoo.” It’s a testament to the kind of lasting effect of love, whether for the good or the bad. Whose on your heart is like a tattoo this Valentine’s Day?

12. “Treat You Better” by Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes takes a page from Mario’s book with this 2016 release. “Treat You Better” is another example of one of the songs about a crush that sees the narrator wanting to help the one he loves break free of a less-than-ideal romantic situation. Once again, he does so by promising her all the things he’ll do for her that the guys she’s with now won’t. It’s a classic “knight and shining armor” type feel without being too cringy.

13. “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry

When you find love with the right person, the feeling it gives you is the most remarkable thing in the world. Such is the case with Katy Perry’s 2010 hit, “Teenage Dream.” As it perfectly and poetically describes what it feels like to be with someone who makes you feel safe, good, and pretty no matter what, we can’t help but hope to find that same kind of love, too. 15. “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” by Kylie Minogue

Swaying away from some of the more solemn entries on our list of songs about a crush is Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.” It’s the right sentiment for when you’re lovestruck and thinking about that one person non-stop. Be prepared for an earworm that will be sure to be the thing to get that person out of your head.

16. “#1 Crush” by Garbage

For all you alternative rock lovers, “#1 Crush” by Garbage is sure to get the message across to your crush in the absolute darkest way possible. 17. “Crush on You” by Bruce Springsteen

He is “The Boss,” and he does nothing but tell it like it is with this one. Bruce Springsteen’s “Crush on You,” released in 1980, is a classic from his album, The River, and is one that is often referred to when it comes to songs about a crush, if anything, just for the title. But it’s made even more so by how he praises the woman he’s got his eye on, hoping she’ll be his one day.
