My Chemical Romance has been a staple in pop culture for over a decade. since 2002, they have became the voice of misfit youth while exploring the outside edges of dramatic rock. Their unusual themes and unforgettable performances has drawn a dedicated fan base all over the world.
Other than a few facebook and twitter posts here and there plugging Gerard Way’s solo project or an exclusive vinyl available for purchase, there has been no sign of life since Gerard and the crew had announced the band’s end on March of 2013.
MCR listeners are just beginning to discover a video, which was posted this afternoon on the band’s social media pages. Video footage of a white flag printed with a mid-evil style cross or “T”, resembling the flag of a pirate ship. The simplistic and familiar piano melody taken from the intro to their song “Welcome To The Black Parade” dances alone in the background as the flag unsoundly flaps in the wind. The video ends with the date, 9/23/16.
Their social media profile photos and banners have also been changed to the same graphic, as well as a new T-Shirt design available for purchase. As it may have looked like something big was in the works, MCR made a public statement claiming, “We are not touring. This marks the 10th year anniversary of our album.”
Boo.
