Day two is the chewy meat of Blue Ox. It’s a full day of activities, sun, navigating all three stages firing off back and forth.
Yoga and instrument workshops start the morning, while stages turn on at 11am. Minneapolis darling Humbird eased the early crowds with a spirited set, followed by Iowan neighbor William Elliott Whitmore. We also received blues artists like Cedric Burnside, Samantha Fish, and soul-slinger Mae Simpson.
The Backwoods Stage brought a slew of local and regional buzz, with bands like Maygen & the Birdwatcher, Mama Said String Band, and The Resonant Rogues. Old Crow Medicine Show pranced and danced the Main Stage, entertaining the audience. Although we missed the headliner due to a very important mission (details to come), we heard the genre bending brilliance of Paul Cauthen was an eye-opening discovery for many in attendance.
