Friday night, Music In Minnesota ventured to Burnsville, Minnesota to The Garage music venue. On the bill was alternative band Guytano from Sartell, MN. I actually got to sit down with Guytano for a video interview just before their soundcheck, but we will get to that in a minute…
Guytano is a three-man band of, Grant Hamilton (Writing, Vocals, Piano, and Guitar), his brother Eddie Hamilton on Bass guitar, and their good friend Isaac Hesse on drums.
It was a chilly Minnesota night, with a wintery weather mix of sleet and snow, but that didn’t seem to bother the eager fans and friends of the band lining up outside the venue doors.
The Garage in Burnsville is an all-ages, dry venue and recording studio operated by the 501c3 nonprofit Twin Cities Catalyst Music. THE GARAGE is a space for programs, workshops, and internships for young people. It’s totally awesome and staffed by a full production crew. It has all the professional amenities.
Guytano opened up the show for John Chuck and the Class. The stage lighting came on, projection screen rising like a curtain, girls smiling and cheering, excited to dance. Guytano’s sound is unique, they note some of their influences to be bands like The 1975, Bon Iver, and even Snow Patrol.
Guytano has a new album in the works coming soon, and get this, NASCAR just licensed all of their music for use on the NASCAR channel in 2018! That’s crazy huge!! Congrats to them.
Guytano’s stage presence was professional, in time, and they had great audience interaction and response. Their songs’ lyrics explore the ups and downs of youth in love and angst and heartbreak. I would recommend these guys for any rock show to warm things up. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, they have cool hair.
Check out our interview with the guys in Guytano above, and make sure to listen to their newest album and tracks at the links and info below. Stay tuned to Guytano’s website and social media for new show dates.
