Slander, along with openers Redline, Frosttop, and Fairlane, delivered a performance at The Armory on Friday, August 7th, that no one in attendance will soon forget. From the overwhelming bass to trading bracelets with the wonderful people who fill the venue, the experience creates a sense of community unlike anything else. It is more than simply attending a concert; it is an experience that brings people together.
As the lights slowly fade, the room transforms into a breathtaking display of lasers, while the music builds toward a bass drop that can be felt throughout your entire body. The energy of the crowd moves as one, with everyone sharing the same moment and becoming part of something larger than themselves.
The entire pit moves together with the music. It is truly an experience that has to be felt firsthand, but I hope I can convey just how much these shows mean to me and to the people who love and live for this community.
For me, attending a Slander show is about the people just as much as it is about the music. There is a genuine sense of connection and positivity throughout the venue. Everyone is there to experience life to the fullest—to step away from the routine of everyday life and enter a world that Slander and their incredible openers create through their music and performances.
This time around, the bass felt significantly heavier than usual, and we were fortunate enough to hear several new songs they had prepared for the show. Some of their tracks were also given an extra level of intensity for the performance, and the difference could be felt throughout the venue. I honestly cannot remember experiencing bass quite like this, despite having attended more than a few shows at The Armory.
The show itself had originally been delayed due to the turmoil in the Twin Cities in January 2026. Looking back, I think the delay was ultimately a blessing in disguise. January in Minnesota can be brutally cold, making the journey to and from a concert much more difficult. This time, however, we were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather both on the way to the show and when it was time to leave.
It was an experience that I, along with many others in attendance, will never forget. I hope to see Slander return to The Armory again soon.
