Garth Brooks released his first album, Garth Brooks, in 1989. It hit the U.S. Country Album Chart almost instantaneously and peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 list.

His second album, 1990’s No Fences, hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country Music chart for several weeks. 

Brooks would release 11 more studio albums before announcing his retirement from recording and performing on October 26, 2000.

The retirement wouldn’t last long, however. Brooks released a new album in 2005 and has seen more success in the following years.

The “Unanswered Prayers” singer continues to sell $100 million worth of records per year, which comes out to a pay of $45 million, half of his $90 million estimated yearly income.
