Open Streets West Broadway Minneapolis MN 2018

Open Streets West Broadway returns for the third year on Saturday!

The 2018 Open Streets Minneapolis season continues this Saturday, September 15th with Open Streets West Broadway. Back for its third year, Open Streets West Broadway will take place from 11 AM to 5 PM on West Broadway Avenue from Penn Avenue North to Lyndale Avenue North. Last year Open Streets West Broadway attracted 5,500 people walking, dancing, and playing in the street.

Open Streets Minneapolis gives local residents a chance to experience their streets in a whole new way – by bike, skateboard, wheelchair, or on foot. Open Streets Minneapolis closes major thoroughfares to motor vehicle traffic and opens them up for programming and fun provided by local business, residents, and community groups. These family-friendly events are free for all to attend, and are a great way to better get to know your community.

Programming highlights at Open Streets West Broadway include Fit for Fun by NorthPoint Health and Wellness, Wakanda on West Broadway featuring North Minneapolis YouthFarm, and Uncaged aerialists.

Northside Greenway Now will host a Sod Block Party on the corner of West Broadway & Irving Avenue North to show folks what a greenway could be like in their neighborhood.

Open Streets West Broadway will also include a celebration of the new C-Line Bus Rapid Transit and the reopening of Penn Avenue through the Penn Avenue Improvements Project.
