Last night, August Burns Red warmed up a shivering sold out crowd at The Cabooze on their eighth show of the Phantom Anthem Tour. The post-hardcore group form Lancaster, Pennsylvania was supported by Born of Osiris, Erra, and Ocean Grove. Even though the weather outside was below freezing, fans of all the acts managed to get drenched in sweat moshing their hearts out to heavy breakdowns and growling vocals.

Ocean Grove started the night off with a hard-hitting nu-metal set. The mob of metal heads gave the five-piece from Melbourne, Australia a warmhearted Minnesota welcome for the band’s first ever show in the United States.

Even though Ocean Grove is the youngest band on the tour, they proved their weight with dynamic stage presence and obvious passion for their music.

The Rhapsody Tapes, their debut LP, was released just under a year ago and hit #5 on the ARIA Albums Chart in its first week of release. Check it out here!

Erra opened with “Irreversible” of their record Drift.

The ambient intro contrasted with a sudden room shaking bass drop and deep rhythmic guitar and bass riffs.

It seems Erra knew the perfect recipe for a flawless opening track. All the crowd wanted was more.

Next to rule the stage was Born of Osiris. The first note of their opening track caused an eruption of moshing that lasted the entire set.

The whole band was incredibly tight and showed professional mastery of each of their instruments.

Each song got heavier and heavier until they finished their show with their most popular song, “Machine.”

Born of Osiris blended djent, deathcore, prog-metal, and electronic backtracking to bring Minnesota an unforgettable show.

Metalcore kings, August Burns Red (ABR), capped off the night with an earthshaking show that left the audience in awe.

ABR held nothing back with their opening song; an epic performance of “King of Sorrow” off their 2017 release, Phantom Anthem.

The band has had an extremely successful year with not only a strong launch for their new album, but also their second Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for their song “Invisible Enemy.”

August Burns Red is known for their amazing light shows and energetic stage presence. The small Cabooze stage could barely contain them.

After fans called for an encore, Matt Greiner, ABR’s drummer, took center stage with an incredible four-minute drum solo.

August Burns Red then ended the night with a classic rendition of their song “Composure” from their 2007 record Messenger. The throwback tune was accompanied with a wall of death of heroic proportions to send off the band.
