On November 10th, 2023, gospel singer Bobbi Storm was traveling on a Delta flight when the plane had to return to the gate for maintenance. Once the plane arrived at the gate and the seatbelt sign was turned off, Bobbi tried to go to the front of the plane to sing a song because “God called her to.”
The flight attendant asked Bobbi to return to her seat and to be quiet because she was bothering him and other passengers who preferred quiet. Bobbi then asked if she would “go to jail” if she sang. The flight attendant then threatened to remove her from the flight if she wouldn’t listen to directions and agree to be quiet.
When Bobbi agreed she would indeed be quiet, the flight attendant returned to the front of the plane, and Bobbi began to sing quietly. After the gospel singer finished her song, the back of the plane clapped softly.
Of course, in this day and age, the video of “woman tries to sing on plane” quickly went viral, and many outraged customers reached out to Delta to ask they apologize to the woman for the flight attendant not allowing her to sing.
However, many other watchers were outraged since Bobbi’s song (and request to sing) was religious in nature, and they viewed her singing as “pushing her religion on others.” Plus, many saw the video for what it was, a shameless attempt at gaining listeners for her new album.

Bobbi was quick to jump in the comments on the original viral video, saying she was just “sharing her joy” and “blessing” the flight attendant, whether he wanted it or not. She also claimed she wasn’t looking for any fame, but she wanted her new album to get the attention it deserved.
Bobbi later posted a second video, saying that the male flight attendant wasn’t treating people right and that Delta did apologize to her for his actions. She also says that they liked the album she was a part of. In this video, Bobbi also asked that the viewers not go after the male flight attendant in the original viral video because Bobbi didn’t want him to lose his job.
This didn’t help Bobbi’s image, however, because commenters were quick to hop on the second video as well. The top comment, liked by over 3,300 people, is by sylvstrb and says, “Don’t include the lord in your vanity.”
The second most popular comment with over 900 likes is by sarahroxannewatson, and it says, “So you hope he learned a valuable lesson on how to treat people? But did you learn a valuable lesson on how to be considerate of others? The fact that you refuse to accept any wrongdoing on your part shows that you have a lot more growing up to do, sis.”
Bobbi wasn’t done yet, though, and she even posted a third video trying to explain and justify her actions, stating that it was God who told her to get up and sing. Commenters were still unhappy, though, saying things like “You wanted attention, God don’t like that.” And “Is this lady fr? Like how can you be this out of touch with reality?” Some other commenters even asked if Bobbi was mentally stable.
To make matters worse, while Bobbi begins the third video saying she was doing everything for God, toward the end she does ask Delta for miles and for more chances to sing on the plane in the future. This final straw alienated some of the few viewers who were still on her side, with many commenting that Bobbi was being “prideful and glorifying herself,” which is the opposite of what she should do as a Christian.
No matter what Bobbi Storm meant to happen when she originally tried to sing on the plane, she did get her 15 minutes of fame. Whether or not you think she was deserving of this fame, or if she is just trying to give herself some publicity, is up to your own opinion.
We will say that in recent years, since the advent of the smartphone (and the fact that everyone now has one), the number of people trying to claim their 5 minutes of fame via video has skyrocketed, especially on planes where they have a captive audience. If you don’t believe it, just look at the other recent viral video of a woman claiming some man on the plane was “not real” and acting like she was on drugs, only for it to come out that she was just pulling a stunt to market her own personal brand.
