“It is not that band’s fault. It is the parent’s for not raising their own children correctly.”

Answer: Did you even read the article? Yes, fault is on the parents. Although, what about the parents that do everything right? After all, parents are boring, and uncool. They always will be. And I believe someone posted a comment that said “Whats the fun in doing what you’re told”. When parenting isn’t there, or isn’t being listened to, the artists are the role models, and they should be held accountable for what they create and have available to the public.

“But that doesn’t matter to you ignorant trolls because you would much rather brainwash us to artists like Justin Bieber, who has been arrested numerous of times for different accusations. ”

Answer: What does that even mean?? Who said I like Justin Bieber? And who said I’m trying to get people to like him? If anything, my attempts are to KEEP people from being “brainwashed”. Here are some artists I would recommend.
M83, Betty Who, Empire Of The Sun, Chvrches, The Naked & Famous, Mø, Foster The People, Purity Ring, Temper Trap.

“Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson of One Direction made a video of themselves smoking marijuana and it was leaked to the internet”

Answer: Yes, I have been made aware of this, and for the last time One Direction was a name I pulled out of the air. They appeared to have a clean image. I know nothing about them. I did not know this video would surface. My example has become invalid, but my point does not. All it means, is One Direction is no better than the others.

“In saying that you want children to be exposed to bands like The Wiggles rather than bands like The 1975…”

Answer: You’re referring to one of the commentors above who mentioned a few children’s bands. I think he may have been a little off with the age range of the kids we are talking about.

There are plenty of great artists that lead positive lives in the eyes of the public and many bands offer a positive message as well, such as Owl CIty. I’m not saying all music should be 100% clean. There is plenty of room to express pain and sorrow.

Everyone has their weaknesses, but not everyone has to flaunt them. I would rather hear about an artists’ struggle through his lyrics, and then watch him overcome those struggles by living an awesome lifestyle. I want inspirational figures to affect the population, not spread the disease of what is addiction and excuse..

Excellent comment! Everyone, read this.

If I were the 1975, and I acquired young fans it is my responsibility to either A) Do not drink and smoke on stage or B) Do not host all ages shows. They do not have to promote a healthy lifestyle. They can basically do whatever they want. But that is the selfish route, when they know so many innocent eyes are on them.

Yes, the band is more than just sex, drugs, and alcohol. Just like their are more parts to a flower other than it’s petals.
I’m not talking about the stem, or their leaves. I’m talking about the part of the band that everyone sees. The part that has a very strong influence on these kids.

Coming back to this comment, I cant help but to laugh. You’re saying “The world is bad, and kids are going to find out that it’s bad, so you may as well just let them run free without any parental guidance, and who cares what happens.”

Did I say everyone who listens to the 1975, smokes, drinks, and has sex? Nope.

Hello Olivia! I could be wrong. Although, I was once a teenager, and I have many friends who were also teenagers at one time, and we definitely kept the dirty secrets from our parents. My point is, kids are little liars. Are her kids lying to her. Who knows. Statistics show that they are, or they eventually will.

If what you say is true, you are an awesome young lady. I hope you continue to refrain from substances that could affect your future. Great job Olivia!
