Despite a rainy morning, this year’s final installment of Open Streets drew an impressive crowd. The Minneapolis based street festival took over the University of Minnesota campus and brought a range of musicians, food trucks, and some very good dogs.
This was my first Open Streets experience and it was such a good one. Open Streets is more than a street festival- it’s a community get together. Thanks to this event I was exposed to so many local businesses, musicians, and more.
One local band I want to highlight is Hot Pink Hangover, a retro styled punk band out of Minneapolis. Their sound is confident, strong, and absolutely unique. After this event I looked into their stuff and would highly recommend their song Dirty City.
Another excellent local band that performed were The White Keys. Primarily a cover band, this duo was able to get the attention of festival goers with high energy and extremely impressive piano playing from Sebastian Davin.
The best part of attending Open Streets was the high volume of “very good boys”. I had the honor of meeting dog celebrity Bear, the St. Berdoodle- follow him on Facebook! This article was originally going to be a top 5 dogs from Open Streets, but this is a music blog.
If you want to get out in your community Open Streets is the place to do it. Please visit their website for more info and future dates. From literal dancing in the streets, music, and good boys- there is something for everyone at Open Streets.
