Did you know that a music venue could inspire a shoe?
Well, it’s happened. On December 4th, 2021, Familia Skateshop announced a partnership with one of the oldest nightclubs in Minneapolis, First Ave, which has been a staple in the community since 1970.
This shoe is called the Nike SB X Familia First Avenue Dunk Low Pro and is scheduled to be the final Dunk release of the year.

The Details of the Shoe
At first glance, you may not notice the small details of the shoe, but upon closer inspection, you’ll find this is a spectacular commemoration of the famous First Ave nightclub.
The heel panel is textured to look like the exterior of the First Ave building—it’s even complete with an embroidered star that matches those that adorn the building which features the names of prominent performers that have appeared at the club.
You’ll also notice a star pattern adorns the toe, and these stars reflect in the light, a unique detail that really takes this shoe to the next level.
The entire shoe is in the color scheme of purple, black, and white to match the club color schema, and has with a velvet-like interior that represents the velvet ropes outside of the nightclub.
The translucent bottom additionally displays a starry pattern that one can view through the sole.
Take a peek inside and you’ll be further enamored by the tick stub design on the insole which is dated April 3rd, 1970—the grand opening of the venue.
Familiar’s script logo is also featured on the heel portion of the insole alongside the Nike logo. You can see all of this in the video released by David Bluetile.
There are many practical aspects to this shoe, such as the reflective Nike swish logo, which will help with visibility in the darker hours, and nubuck material which will keep the shoes looking their best even as you wear them for a night out.
When Can You Get A Pair?
Because the club opened in 1970, this shoe was originally intended to be released in 2020 as a 50th-anniversary celebration.
But because of the COVID19 trials, and other pandemic supply chain issues, the shoe suffered many delays and is finally scheduled to be released this year.
Currently, the shoes are planned to be released on December 11th, 2021, and will be featured at certain skate shops only.
You’ll want to take a look at the store list where they will be released ahead of time because these shoes are slated to be extremely exclusive and this is one pair you don’t want to miss!
