Over the last couple of years, the Eaux Claires music festival that takes place in Eau Claire, Wisconsin has boasted some pretty impressive lineups. The curators of the festival, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, and The National’s Aaron Dessner have done a good job of assembling a roster which offers a healthy mix of celebrated headliners, cutting-edge artists, and rising talent. This year’s lineup is no exception, expecting 2017 be their biggest year to date in the festivals brief three-year history.
Two performances, in particular, are getting fans of the festival pretty hyped up. Paul Simon with yMusic is first and features the legendary singer/songwriter teaming up with acclaimed chamber ensemble yMusic to premiere a new collaboration that pairs classic songs from Simon’s extensive catalog with cutting edge arrangements by leading voices in the contemporary classical music.

The second is a highly-anticipated performance from Grammy Award winning independent superstar, Chance The Rapper, who wowed audiences with a surprise cameo that capped off last year’s festival.
Other notable artists, such as; Wilco, Danny Brown, Bon Iver, John Prine, Sylvan Esso, and Feist will also be performing throughout the event on stages covering the expansive 60-acre piece of land along the banks of the Chippewa River.

New to the festival this year will be a new concept called “Artists-in-Residence” which is a group of notable musicians that will be ready to jump in and contribute their talents to performances both announced and unannounced across the entire weekend. Artists confirmed to be taking part in this so far are festival veterans Sam Amidon, Phil Cook, Bryce Dessner, Jenny Lewis, and The Staves. New collaborators to the festival, including AnaÏs Mitchell, will also participate.

The festival returns to Eau Claire, Wisconsin on June 16th & 17th this year. Tickets for Eaux Claires are currently on sale now and feature of few different options ranging from the cheaper one-day option to the pricier two-day + camping options. Through a partnership with the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, the festival also offers hundreds of dorm rooms for festival attendees to reserve, which also include free shuttle services to and from the festival grounds. More information is provided on their website.
