ON THE RADAR: Whosah Debuts Emphatic New Track “Make A Move”

Minneapolis-based five-piece, Whosah, released their newest song Make A Move this week with a little help from local radio station GO 96.3. Featured on their “Top Prospects” segment on Thursday afternoon, the world got their first taste of this sure-to-be hit from Whosah, and now you can listen to it as many times as you want, and trust us, you’re going to want to hear it, a lot.

The song isn’t a far stretch from the sounds we have grown to love from Whosah, but you can definitely spot some differences. The main one, as Dave Grimes, the band’s drummer states, is the evolution of their sound, which has been a focus for the band over the length of this project.

“Some of the sounds on this record are more traditional rock rock or funk bass stuff, sometimes something weird with an analog synth or a couple plugins used in a strange way or a vocal blip reversed into a sample…regardless of method, there are no rules – best idea wins,” Dave says. “We’re having a blast trying to chase that subjective ultra-reality together as a team.”

The new song is sure to be one of the leading singles off the band’s upcoming record, which Dave admits, doesn’t quite have a name yet. The goal of the project is a full-length record, that he describes as one of the most accurate collaborations of five souls you can get on a recording, and to make it the most transparent release of the bands’ history.

In preparation for this release, the band has a handful of dates planned for this fall and will be performing a few of the new songs they have as well. The tour, aptly named the “We Wrote A Song Called Make A Move & Wanna Play It For You” tour, will be hitting a variety of dates from late August through September, including a hometown date at Triple Rock Social Club on September 14th with The Millenium and Halfloves.

“We’re really excited about where this new music is taking us; looking forward to the opportunity to close our eyes and jump together- even if the water’s not deep enough.”

Tickets to their show at the Triple Rock can be purchased here, and make sure to follow Whosah on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on all announcements regarding their upcoming shows and projects.
