This June, electronic music legend Porter Robinson will be presenting his first ever curated music festival in conjunction with Goldenvoice – Second Sky Music Festival. The promotions company, known for the inception of Coachella, will host the festival June 15 and 16 in Oakland, California.
Originally a one day festival, Porter Robinson broke the internet when tickets for the festival sold out in virtually 30 seconds. Thus a second date was added, with an identical line up with the exception of G Jones. To no one’s surprise, the second date sold out just as quickly. Why such high demand? The festival will feature the only two Worlds (Live) sets of 2019.

Jumping on the scene in 2011 with his first EP on OWSLA (music label founded by Skrillex), Spitfire really put Porter Robinson on the musical map. However, it was his debut studio album, Worlds, in 2014 that truly set Robinson apart from his other producer peers. His Worlds (Live) set is a must-see show, though with his new projects, chances to catch it are few and far between.
Known to stray from the formulaic structure of typical dance music, Robinson has begun experimenting even further with his latest project, Virtual Self. Virtual Self has taken dance music back to its roots. The sets Robinson plays as VS consist of neotrance, breakbeat, jungle, and old-school Eurodance. Focusing more on this “alter ego” in the past year, new self-titled releases have been put on hold for now.

While seeing Porter Robinson play a DJ set may be pretty easy, as he holds a Las Vegas residency and frequents festivals all around the world, seeing Worlds (Live) is not such a simple task. This is why tickets to the sold-out Second Sky Music Festival are in such high demand. Offering an eclectic, curated, and artistic lineup, those lucky enough to have snatched tickets will surely not be disappointed.
The roster, meticulously curated by Robinson himself, features Madeon (here’s hoping for a secret Shelter set), Cashmere Cat, G Jones, Kero Kero Bonito, Chrome Sparks, Anamanaguchi, Wednesday Campanella, and Nina Las Vegas.
