More on Miloe

Miloe, whose real name is Bob Kabeya, was born in Mbuji-Mayi, a city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa.

At the age of five, Miloe’s father was reporting on government corruption when he suddenly needed to flee to America to avoid persecution. Milo, his siblings, and his mother also moved to America three years later.

When Miloe joined his father in Minnesota, he discovered his father had been experimenting with audio production on Garage Band, recording a few demos. This inspired Miloe and his brothers to pursue music and created a boy band called K Boyz.

He continued his ambitions in music by playing drums in the church band, as well as some indie and pop bands throughout high school and college. In 2018, Miloe began making solo music and putting it on Soundcloud.

While performing at an underground basement show, his set caught the attention of attendee Jake Luppen, singer of the successful Minneapolis band Hippo Campus. Luppen offered to help produce an EP for Miloe.

In three days, they reconstructed a backlog of Miloe’s best demos into well-curated tracks. On the EP is Miloe’s most popular song, “Winona.”

In 2020, Miloe signed a record deal with Loma Vista (St. Vincent, Action Bronson, Korn).
