Shrouded in neon and strobe lights from every direction, the aptly named Electric Daisy Carnival, held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, is every 9-5 office drone’s fantasy escape. Free carnival rides, huge interactive art and light installations, throbbing bass, and a whole lot of good vibes make up this absolutely insane musical festival.
Each year brings a line up of electronic artists even more impressive than the last. Recently announced artists for this year’s fest, held May 17-19, include household electronic names that even your mom would know! These include Martin Garrix, Zeds Dead, David Guetta, Above & Beyond, Tiesto, Illenium, Diplo, and more.

Each year features a specific theme which is reflected in the architecture of the main stage, kineticFIELD. Hosted by the one and only Bill Nye the Science Guy, 2019’s theme will be kineticENERGY. To kick off the festivities, an opening ceremony is held first thing Friday, hosted by Bill himself! You can watch the theme reveal video from Insomniac Events CEO, Pasquale Rotella, and Bill Nye here.
Besides the intricate light displays, over-the-top stages, and spinning carnival rides expect to see some crazy characters along Electric Avenue and beyond. Every year, Insomniac Events fills the raceway with elaborately dressed roaming performers. These range from dancers, aerialists, stilt walkers, circus performers, and actors.
Whimsical characters move throughout the venue in beautiful custom costumes, interacting with festival-goers and spreading the messages of love and positive energy. Make sure to stop and take a picture when you see them!
Nestled between the lights and stages are tons of places to purchase delicious food and drink. Festival-goers also have ample opportunity to browse unique vendors and artist merchandise. While an EDC trip is definitely not cheap, make sure to pack some extra cash to buy a souvenir. You’re going to want to commemorate an amazing, beautiful musical experience.
