Pennsylvania rockers, Balance and Composure, brought their talents to 7th Street Entry in support of their third LP, Light We Made, released in October of 2016. This album highlights a softer side of the usual punk-rockers, evolving from their hardcore previous work on The Things We Think We’re Missing, and Separation.
The quintet drew a sizable crowd to the Entry on a mellow Tuesday night, and had fans eagerly waiting outside the venue hours before doors opened. They started their set off with the first two tracks off of Light We Made, “Midnight Zone” and “Spinning” – both more easygoing tunes featuring hypnotic melodies and frontman Joe Simmons’ falsetto. From there the band also incorporated songs from their previous albums, which displayed their progression throughout the years.
The venue wasn’t quite sold out, but the audience compensated for that with their overwhelming energy, reciprocating what they saw on stage. At one point, Simmons was hanging from the ceiling which definitely gave the fans a memorable and exhilarating experience.
Despite changing their sound and growing as artists, Balance and Composure have managed to keep their fans entertained and happy, and Simmons made sure to dedicate their last song, “I Tore You Apart,” to the old fans who have been there since the beginning.
Balance and Composure released their three-song Slow Heart EP on May 12th and concluded their spring tour on May 21st. Make sure to check out their most recent music videos for “Afterparty” and “Postcard.”
