Soulful sibling trio BAILEN brought their alternative folk music to the 7th St Entry in Minneapolis Monday night. With only a couple songs officially released on Spotify, the crowd was treated to a sneak peek of their upcoming debut album, “Thrilled to Be Here,” out April 26.
Before playing a new song titled “Eyelashes,” bassist Daniel Bailen told a sweet anecdote about how the song came to be. He said the band stayed with an older woman on a previous tour who told them how she pulled out her eyelashes as a child and wished for world peace with each one.
That wasn’t the only story of the night, as each band member took their turn telling tales and jokes between songs. Drummer David Bailen joked that after their encore, each additional song would cost the crowd $100 each, and guitarist Julia Bailen reminisced on their previous visit to Minnesota when they got to play a show at the zoo and see the otters.
BAILEN closed out the show by going totally unplugged. The trio gathered center stage and sang without their microphones while Daniel Bailen strummed an acoustic guitar. The 7th St Entry was completely mesmerized by their flawless harmonies – a perfect end to a great show.
Their singles “I Was Wrong” and “Your Love Is All I Know” were the crowd favorites of the night. Fans of The Head & The Heart, Joseph, Fleetwood Mac, and the like should give BAILEN a listen. Make sure to check them out next time they roll through town!
