MIM: So, what is the story behind your new single Animal?
Kat Perkins: Animal is the rock story of a possible inherent instinct inside of us. It’s our alter egos that we may possess – some people act on animal instinct whether it be right or wrong – moral or immoral.
MIM: Was there a significance around a Halloween release date?
Kat: I just LOVE Halloween and I thought it would be a fun day to release a rock song in my world. It’s kind of a spooky song and video and reminded me of an Oct. 31 vibe….
MIM: I have been following your guitarist and musical partner Eric Warner as he’s been posting about working in the studio Minnesota music legends Micheal Bland and Sonny Thompson of The New Power Generation. How has that been and what do we have to look forward too?
Kat: Where do I start??? I’ve gotten the amazing opportunity to get to work with NPG members the last few years on various projects around the Twin Cities and when it came to making my next Christmas record, we took the fearless approach and asked them to be a part of it! You’re gonna LOVE what they brought to the table with my holiday record. It’s very special. I’m the luckiest gal in the world.
