Columbus-native Colin Rigsby, also known as Vesperteen, is embarking on his first national headlining tour and will be making a stop at the Garage in Burnsville on August 3rd.
Vesperteen is Rigsby’s latest musical endeavor alongside over a decade of drumming in pop-rock band, House of Heroes. While House of Heroes was a collaborative effort between all band members, Vesperteen has allowed Rigsby more creative freedom to give life to music which may not have aligned with HoH’s style.
Rigsby released his debut, self-titled Vesperteen EP in September of 2015. Vesperteen consists of six dreamy, electro-pop tunes varying from melancholy ballads like “Drinking from an Empty Glass” to anthemic, inspired tracks such as “Shatter the Night.” Despite not having an extensive discography, Vesperteen has earned a dedicated, worldwide fan base. His fans, known as the “Vesperteam,” were featured in the official music video for the 2016 single, “What We Could Have Been.”
Vesperteen released a new cover of the iconic Guns N’ Roses song, “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” at midnight on Friday. Rigsby gave the classic tune a modern, electronic makeover while keeping the dramatic integrity of the song. He transposed the legendary guitar riff in to a delicate piano melody, which brings more attention to his strong, passionate vocals. The song ends with an epic, dancey breakdown, sealing it with a Vesperteen twist. It was a bold choice to cover such a renowned jam, but Rigsby managed to do the song justice and make it his own.
Tickets for Vesperteen’s massive, thirty-six date “Together For The Summer” tour are on sale now. Buy your tickets for The Garage here, and keep an eye out for more new music in the future.
