Kiss the Tiger, the female-fronted, five-piece, rock ‘n’ roll troublemakers from Minneapolis, Minnesota released their first official music video for their song “Starting To See You” earlier this month. The song was featured on their most recent release, Elliot Park, a four-song EP that came out in November of last year.
The video, which was shot entirely inside (and a little outside) of The Terminal Bar in Northeast Minneapolis, features a cast full of local theater artists who each take turns lip-syncing along, until Kiss The Tiger front-woman, and City Pages 2017 Artist of the Year, Meghan Kreidler, takes over to close out the video.
Directed by Frank Foster Bolton & Jonny Stuckmayer, it’s the perfect combination of authentic music and vivid visuals, resulting in a video you’ll want to watch over and over again.
We weren’t interested in portraying a relationship because that felt stale and generic to us. So instead we thought it would be powerful to feature all women and have the song take on a different meaning of giving women visibility by featuring them as individuals with their own individual power and stories that end up intersecting with other women throughout the bar.
Since it’s release, the video has been included in The Current’s “Friday Five” blog as well as City Pages “Top 5 MN Music Videos” list. Kiss The Tiger also recently performed alongside DJ Jake Rudh, Dirt Train, and Chris Koza as apart of the Varsity Theater’s recent re-opening party, as well as opening for Terra Lightfoot at 7th St Entry on February 20th.
As far as upcoming shows are concerned, Kiss The Tiger is heading out on a five-day, five-city tour on March 7th, where they will hit Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, Champaign, and Louisville. The band also has hopes of hitting the studio in the coming months to continue work on their second full-length album, which they hope to release sometime this summer.
A full list of their upcoming shows, as well as all the info you could ever want to know about the band, can be found at KissTheTiger.com. They can be found on Facebook, and their music, including the Elliot Park EP, can be found on all major streaming services.
