Of all the things one could do on a Thursday in Minneapolis, I found myself at Skyway Theater’s Barfly, where the UMN EDM Club was doing a take-over show.
The student-run organization had performers mixing and showcasing their talents on two stages. The venue offered a variety of music the whole night, ranging from house, to future bass, to dubstep, and riddim.
As I made my way into the main room, my chest was rattled by the subs. The talent opening the night was laying down some heavy dubstep and I knew it was going to be a good night.

The night progressed and something out of the ordinary happened – halfway through one of the sets, three members went back to back and played under one name: WEi.D. The crowd was at their peak of the night as the trio dropped hit after hit.

The UMN EDM Club threw together an energy-packed show and from a first glance, you would not expect that the dj’s performing were students with classes and homework to worry about.
