Hot off of the release of their debut LP, Welcome Back, the Massachusetts natives brought vibey tunes to a sold-out 7th street. Tim Noyes (vocals/guitar) and Eddie Byun (keys/production) have had this album in the works for over a year and Noyes drew inspiration from seeking closure on a past relationship stating: “I wrote the eleven songs that make up our record over a long span of time. They are about one person, in one way or another. I wrote our first EP Steps about that relationship, and here I am now, years later, attempting to finish the story.”
Noyes’ vulnerability and emotion translated well on stage as his soothing vocals enchanted the crowd with Byun’s delicate keys and harmonies rounding out their sound. The melancholy lyrics tell stories of heartbreak, yearning, and growth, playing through new songs, “Honest Mistake,” “Fool,” “beauty / bends,” and “Harvest Moon.”
The duo included older tracks including “Weight Of It All” and their 2014 single, “Blood Stutter.” Byun introduced “Blood Stutter” with a playful key melody as their drummer pounded a four-on-the-floor beat. This one seemed to be a fan-favorite as the packed Friday night crowd swayed along to the mellow tune.
