Elise Trouw brought her unique blend of live-looped music to the intimate stage of 7th St Entry in Minneapolis last night. Armed with her keyboard, guitars, and drums, Trouw layered beats in real-time, captivating the audience with her inventive approach.
The show was part of Trouw’s tour to promote her latest EP, Losing Sleep. She’ll continue on with 18 additional stops across the US.

Starting her musical journey at a young age, Trouw dedicated her free time to practicing guitar and drums. She gained traction by sharing her music on YouTube, where she honed her skills in live-looping and cross-genre mashups.
This paved the way for her live performances, eventually appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel, and filling in as Seal’s backup drummer.

As the sole performer on Friday’s intimate stage, all eyes were on Elise as she carefully constructed each piece. It’s incredible to watch her slowly layer one instrument at a time; sometimes a full song comes together before you know it’s happened.
There were some nerves in her voice, but that simply added to her character as a young up-and-coming artist. In stark contrast, she took hold of her instruments with complete confidence. Each time she sat behind the drum set, she was completely in another world.

Elise Trouw has big plans brewing. Given recent collaborations with the likes of Finneas and Daniel Tashian, we’re sure to hear more as she continues along her journey.
