Cold War Kids At First Ave

Cold War Kids returned to First Avenue last night in promotion of their sixth studio album, L.A. Divine. Frontman Nathan Willett backed by bassist Matt Maust, guitarist David Quon, drummer Joe Plummer, and keyboardist Matt Schwartz performed a nineteen song set to a relatively packed room for a Wednesday night. Willett’s signature, raw voice was a bit subdued due to illness, but he still powered through with Schwartz and Quon providing solid background vocals.

The mainroom echoed with the rhythmic bass lines and driving guitar riffs as they performed a mix of older classics “Hang Me Up To Dry” “Miracle Mile”  “Something Is Not Right With Me” and new songs, including “Love Is Mystical” “So Tied Up” and “Can We Hang On?” off of their upcoming LP. Concertgoers responded positively and swayed along to the new tunes.
