Mike Nelson, also known as Banners, returned to Minneapolis on Sunday, February 19th. The Liverpool native brought his heartfelt lyrics and airy Chris Martin-like vocals to the Entry, performing for a not quite sold-out crowd. Backed by his three-piece touring band, Banners played a twelve song setlist including a few unreleased songs.

Nelson kicked off his set with his 2016 single “Into The Storm,” setting the stage for the rest of his energetic show. His effortless falsetto was featured heavily throughout his performance, captivating the audience with a mix of mellow and upbeat songs. Fans responded incredibly positively to his new songs, eagerly anticipating his upcoming EP.

He also performed his most recent single, Holy Ground, a hauntingly emotional number written about a special place that holds meaning to you and a significant other but seems irrelevant or ordinary to everyone else. The music video for this track features actors Ashley Greene and Andrew West, and was beautifully directed by filmmaker Izak Rappaport.

While you’re waiting for his new EP, make sure to listen to his 2016 self-titled EP, Banners.
