Weezer brought their “Feels Like Summer” tour to Minnesota last week with a performance at Treasure Island Resort & Casino in Welch, Minnesota. The summer tour is in support of their upcoming album, of which “Feels Like Summer” was the first single.

After an opening set from rockers Cold War Kids, Weezer took the stage around 9:30 PM. The sun was setting to their backs and a full crowd of fans ranging from all ages and more than excited to see their favorite band perform. The “Feels Like Summer” tour is the bands 37th tour since first forming the band in 1992.

Weezer opened with their hit song “California Kids” off their 2016 “White Album” which did, in fact, make the night “Feel Like Summer”. Continuing through with hits such as Hash Pipe, My Name Is Jonas, and Pork and Beans, the band had the crowd hanging on their every word. About halfway through the set, the band busted out a cover of “Hey Ya!” by Outkast, which to the crowd and myself was an awesome surprise. Singer River Cuomo then donned a sombrero and the band launched into two of their biggest hits, “Thank God For Girls” and “Beverly Hills” and the crowd absolutely lost it.

The band then played their newest 2017 release, “Fees Like Summer”, although a very catchy song it just doesn’t have that classic Weezer vibe like their old hits, and you could feel the wind slowly coming out of the sails (oops). After the slight lull in performance, however, they finished the set strong belting out the words to some of their biggest hits with the help of their fans. A crowd favorite, “Buddy Holly,” was their closing song, and Weezer closed the book on another solid performance in the state of Minnesota.
