Kelsey Byrne, also known as Vérité, brought her talents to Triple Rock on Saturday. The independent singer-songwriter opened with her latest release “When You’re Gone,” showcasing her etherial yet powerful vocals, belting out lyrics of emotional indifference. Byrne stated: “The song about being depressed, wanting to erase the feeling with external and realizing that it doesn’t work.”

Halfway through her set she graced the audience with her incredible cover of The 1975’s “Somebody Else,” which has gained nearly 65 million streams on Spotify. Byrne put her own personal twist on the song, giving the melancholy tune a more electronic and upbeat feel. The sold-out audience seemed to respond positively, dancing along to the surprisingly desolate lyrics.

Vérité’s performance was the perfect mix of songs off of her previous EP’s Echo and Living, as well as a few tracks off of her upcoming album, Somewhere In Between. She closed her set with the first single off the album “Phase Me Out” featuring her impressive, acrobatic vocal riffs.

Somewhere In Between is set to release on June 23, 2017. Preorder the album here and catch Vérité on tour with Betty Who across the US and select European dates.
