Luke Bryan brought his Proud To Be Here Tour to Treasure Islands Amphitheater. What do you get from the multi-year Country Music Entertainer Of The Year? A solid show featuring 22 songs and wall-to-wall hits from beginning to end. What else would you expect?
Luke Bryan brought Dylan Scott to start the night out, unfortunately, the crowd was still working it’s way into the Amphitheater. This is nothing new when it comes to Treasure Island (especially when it involves a sold-out show). The reality is that it’s not really Treasure Islands’ fault. One road in, one road out. The area just gets congested as too many people try to arrive at the same time.
Dylan Scott got the crowd on its feet with his version of Bro-Country featuring songs “Nothing To Do Town“, “Beer Buddies“, “Hooked” and his hit song “My Girl“.
Scott caught me off guard by playing several covers during the opening set. While the covers were great, he spent his time off during the Covid fallout in the studio. I must mention he said most fans expect songs they know and that is what he concentrated on.
The two best Covers of the night were Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing At All” and “Fishing In The Dark” by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The latter had Scott mocking the crowd saying don’t let Milwaukee outsing you.
Waiting and looking up onto the stage, A big disco ball starts to spin and Luke finally hits the stage with his sway, growl, and southern drawl, starting the night out with the hit “That’s My Kinda Night” followed by one of my favorites “Rain Is A Good Thing”.
Luke’s next few songs included the song “Knockin’ Boots” where he claimed that the back area of the seating and a few in the front were where people got pregnant, followed by the Party Anthem “Kick The Dust Up“.
If anyone was wondering, Bryan’s night was definitely fueled by either Vodka, Tequila, and (if you were paying close attention) Bryans signature Two Lanes Beer. Sorry Minnesota, As of this moment the beer is not available here.
Bryan came out with a mix of his “One Tequila” and Kenny Chesneys “When The Sun Goes Down” which by no surprise involved Bryan taking a couple of different shots.
Dylan Scott got another chance on stage as he helped Bryan on the hit song “All My Friends Say“, once again involving shots and more of the singer’s Beer. It sure seems like one big Ad or maybe an upcoming infomercial is being born from this.
Luke slowed it down for a bit playing his first #1 Hit “Do I” mocking his own ego saying I’ve now got 26. Sorry, Luke, it’s 29. Followed by “Crash My Party” and the missing your loved one tearjerker “Drink A Beer“.
The night ended with the favorite boy meets girl song “Play It Again“, The Booty shaking “Country Girl” and the song which most people were thinking “I Don’t Want This Night To End“.
Even with a light mist throughout most of the night, it was one of the better shows from beginning to end. Lots of everything, from Drinking to singing and dancing by a very diverse group in the crowd, all led by the dancing singer up on stage.
My night was made by one of the attendants in charge of seating, her singing and dancing was absolutely contagious not to mention fun to watch.
Props go out to Bryan who was sick all week with a chest cold. That has to be really hard for anyone trying to sing any length of time. Bryan said don’t worry it’s not covid, I had it checked. I’m pretty sure I won’t be joining him for my next Covid test though, as according to Bryan it was checked Anally. Thanks for the great show Luke, I think I’ll pass!
