Texas-based rapper Khalid released a music video for his hit song Young Dumb & Broke this week, and people are loving it. The video depicts Khalid living a joyous and carefree school experience, featuring quick shots of students goofing around, dancing in the cafeteria, and playing with water guns. In the video, Khalid himself is declared the prom king, an accolade he received in real life as well, being voted prom king by his actual senior class.
The video also features cameos from actor Wayne Brady, playing an unhappy janitor, and Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei, along with a few actors who are famous for playing high school related roles, including Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That) and Dennis Haskins (Saved By The Bell). Hip-Hop artist Buddy also makes an appearance, as well as actor/comedian Kel Mitchell.
The song was the second single from Khalid’s debut album, American Teen, and climbed to #34 on Billboards’ Rhythmic Chart this week. The video also comes ahead of Khalid’s upcoming performance right here in Minnesota, performing a sold-out show at The Myth in St. Paul on August 19th.
