He Is Legend brought the “Hot Like Sauce” Tour to St. Paul’s Amsterdam Friday night.

Friday night was an amazing night for some early evening metal. Acclaimed North Carolina rockers He Is Legend, brought their 30 show headlining tour with Islander, and To Speak Of Wolves to the Amsterdam in beautiful downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. Earlier this year, He Is Legend released their debut “few”, that debuted No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Be sure to check out their new single “Gold Dust”. Now let’s take you on this trip through Friday’s awesome show, shall we?

Upon arriving at the venue, the hall was stacked with shining drums, and bands ready to rock the Amsterdam’s 400 square foot stage. The concert room of the Amsterdam holds 600 with great sight lines, making for a wonderfully intimate experience for show goers of any genre. Friday night was no exception. It was the perfect crowd, and great vibes all around. As drinks began to pour, so did fans to the front of the stage. The opening band, Names To Faces, kicked things off. Lead vocalist Jeanine Volk wowed crowds with her expressive performance. The band dedicated in solidarity a cover of Linkin Park’s song “Numb”, near the end of their set.

Next up was a local favorite, Common Choir. They really wake the room up and get things energized. Front man Zachary Fulton entertains between songs with a bit of humor too. This guy can thrash, he is high energy all around, and really drives his powerful vocals. Great crowd interaction and engagement. They nicely warmed things up for one of the coolest performances of the night, To Speak Of Wolves.

To Speak Of Wolves hail from North Carolina as well along with He Is Legend. Lead vocalist William “Gage” Speas, really delivered and engaged the crowd, bringing the mic to fan’s mouths to scream along. This band brought the animals out of the crowd to set the tone for the rest of the night.

Now for Islander. These guys, in under 2 years have grown from obscurity to regular radio play. If you like anything like Incubus, or Deftones, I would definitely check these guys out. Front man Mikey Carvajal, and Chris Carvajal on the keys are very talented.

He Is Legend headlined the night. Eager crowds taunted impatiently, waiting to explode. It was merely seconds into He Is Legend’s first song of the night before the mosh pit opened full circle at the front of the stage where I was shooting. He Is Legend’s performance was amazing, and Schuylar Croom did not disappoint. They’re presence and style really channels eras of rock from the 1990’s, and even as vintage as the 1960’s. He Is Legend will be finishing out their tour with 9 more dates beginning again Saturday night, August 12th, 2017 at The Annex in Madison, Wisconsin. You don’t want to miss these guys if they come through.
