Prior to joining the Foo Fighters, Hawkins was a drummer for Sass Jordan and Alanis Morissette. He also drummed for the progressive experimental band Sylvia.
In 2004, Hawkins started his own side project, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders. He was the main singer and drummer in the band, and they released three studio albums.
Hawkins passed away at the age of 50. Investigators confirmed that he suffered a cardiovascular collapse after overdosing on his cocktail containing psychotic drugs.
According to the report, the drummer’s urine contained traces of 10 other substances, including heroin, antidepressants, morphine, and psychoactive drugs.
